Sending fleshbags up, on the other hand, is a lot simpler, and a whole heck of a lot more flexible.
Also, a secondary recorder can be set to recieve transmissions on a secondary frequency and then resend them on the proper frequency to simulate a conversation involving information that could not have ben recorded before taking off.
already covered, read the whole pst before responding.
I did. My response was based on assuming your situation. This isn't a workaround. It's just another link in what is quickly become a rube goldberg device just to fake a mission we could do anyways. You also forget the difficulty of fixing so many world events, such as sports games, over that week. You ALSO need to make sure no one finds this secondary frequency, figures out why it has such a powerful signal, and getting suspicious. Plus, if you're anywhere near smart, you'd need to throw in a decryptor at the point of reception (the spaceship), which is another piece of equipment in an already cramped space, just waiting to go wrong.
1) back-up, back-up, back-up. The radios didn't fail, a tape recorder is not much more complicated than that, since we don't actually have people one the space ship, there's plenty of room for a dozen or so back-up tape recorders. and as has been mentioned, automated missions had already been sent to the moon with minimal difficulty.
It's not the recorder, it's the computer that controls that recording that's complicated. Unless you're suggesting a perfect seven week script.
Actually, given 1960's recording tech, how much volume would the total week's recording have taken?
2) Tell him that the astronoughts are indisposed due to a technical difficulty, also, you could fool him into thinking he is having a conversation with an astonought on a space ship by having the actors who do the tape recording talk with him from a terrestrial radio.
Uh, this is all fine and dandy, but this is more of how they 'could' fake, now how they 'could have' back in the 60's. Besides, you've only now fooled one man, out of the entire world.
