Galactica: nBSG meets BFG

Post by Azazal »

Little slow at the moment, so for the hell of it I put down a rough draft of the Bucket, the Beast and a Basestar using BFG (Battlefleet Gothic) rules.

Some side notes to start off with:
These are NOT to scale with 40k ships; if any of these were in 40k they would be escorts. This is purely to play nBSG games using the BFG rules.

These are gut feel rough drafts, refinement is needed.

Shields? What? I'm using this to represent the flak barrier we've seen set up by the ships. Just a quick and dirty what to show the extra defense provided with existing rules.

Vipers and Raiders should be treated like Ork fighta-bombas; they can attack ordinance and ships.

Picturing the Galactica as a standard crusier, Pegasus seems more in scale with a grand cruiser - heavy hitter, but not quite a battleship. Then the Basestar as a light, quick cruiser.

So here are the drafts, have at them

Why doesn't Galactica have nukes?
Do not meddle in the affairs of insomniacs, for they are cranky and can do things to you while you sleep.

After a full reading:
-Both galactica and pegasus have port/starboard missiles
-The pegasus has a prow battery, I don't recall seeing any missiles from the prow in the Ep where she got ambushed.
-Again, no shields
-The turning on the ships seem low, 45 degrees is like imperial heavy cruiser, slow and cumbersome.
-The turret ratings seem a little low to be honest. As for the turret value on the basestar, I dunno, we never really *see* them use any sort of point defense to my knowledge.
-Basestars should have a higher launch capacity than the pegasus, com'on.

One of Galactica's launch bays is a giftshop by the way.

As for why Galactica doesn't have any nukes, she's running low on them. One nuke was turned into Baltar's Cylon detector (what happened to that thing anyway?), another nuke was used to destroy the Basestar at Kobol, and I'm sure they used nukes during the Resurrection Ship two-parter. Or might have, I don't know.

As for the 'shields' spoof. Maybe that can be rationalised as the flak screen?

No shields-turrets provide the flak barrier. Up the turret ratings.

Pegasus needs a foreward battery

Basestar needs a large missle and launch bay ratings.

No nukes were seen to be deployed against the Basestars in Resurrection Ship.

OK updated to mark 2. Dropped the shields as the flak barrier idea and upped the turrets. Upped turns to 90. Added a prow battery to the Pegasus. Also added in the heavy raiders to be used as assault boats for the toasters.

They still used missiles, just ones lacking nuclear warheads.

Galactica also has four bow batteries. As described here and shown in this image. I don't think there ever seen in use in the show though.

Don't basestars have hundreds of raiders hanging under the 'arms'? I remember reading about scaling when the FS2:BSG mod was putting them in, and hanging packed like they show on the show you end up with fucking assloads of raiders.
