Man I hate Studio 8
These are the best shots I could get of the blue lasers.
Green laser from scene immediately before, so you see that it's not just some weird colour issue with the tape (or that it's so weird that it only affects green and yellow colours in the other scene):
The blue lasers of doom (compare with boring normal lasers from 2004 DVDs):

Yes, Blue Lasers were definitely in that VHS release of TESB, I remember.

That's because at the time I saw them I was convinced the change had been mandated to demonstrate that these TIEs were shooting ion blasts (the blue ion cannons from the X-Wing games). I was really young, and didn't yet know that blue ion cannons are bullshit ...Stofsk wrote: I thought you might be upset that the TIEs went from green lasers to blue lasers. You seem to be content over it.

Were the bolts blue in the version which was aired on TV4? Then it couldn't have been limited to that particular VHS release (Dooey Jo, weren't the original versions of the movies aired in the beginning of the 90's on TV4 or am I remembering wrong?)Dooey Jo wrote:Man I hate Studio 8

No, that recording is positively ancient. I think I taped it in '94 or something. In the other versions they've aired since, they were green, because it was the special edition.Mange wrote:Were the bolts blue in the version which was aired on TV4? It was the first time I saw Star Wars, BTW, back then

I believe I wrote "in the beginning of the 90's on TV4?" (alright, it was more in the middle than the beginning)Dooey Jo wrote:No, that recording is positively ancient. Anyway, I found my ancient TESB tape which I taped in '89 and the bolts were green as opposed to the blue bolts in the "Last time available" edition. So it seems as if the blue bolts were restricted to the "Faces" edition (at least the European version).

Oh, well I wasn't sure if you meant the ones they aired recently, since you mentioned the old ones later...Mange wrote:I believe I wrote "in the beginning of the 90's on TV4?" (alright, it was more in the middle than the beginning)
That's really strange. Was the bolts green first, then changed to blue, and then changed back again?Anyway, I found my ancient TESB tape which I taped in '89 and the bolts were green as opposed to the blue bolts in the "Last time available" edition. So they were thinking "Let's kill them, no wait, how about we just disable them... nah, kill them after all."
Good point about the games. If these were really meant to be ion blasts, they'd be red.
But, mood lightsabers are now canon, so I don't know where this stands (I was kidding in this sentence, btw, before anyone jumps on me).
Thanks for the screenshots!
A color gaffe surely, but an odd one, to say the least! It must have been introduced in the 1995 THX version and then corrected in the SE's. Otherwise we'd probably have bright purple shots by now... or something.

fun/fantasy movies existed before the overrated Star Wars came out. What made it seem 'less dark' was the sheer goofy aspect of it: two robots modeled on Laurel & Hardy, and a smartass outlaw with bigfoot co-pilot and their hotrod pizza-shaped ship, and they were sucked aboard a giant Disco Ball. -adw1
Someone asked me yesterday if Dracula met Saruman and there was a fight, who would win. I just looked at this man. What an idiotic thing to say. I mean really, it was half-witted. - Christopher Lee
