From what I understand he is actually an amateur boxer and the conditions for inclusion in this little PR stunt meant that anyone he faced would be smaller than he is.

Because Boll is an established and accomplished amateur boxer, while the others were critics without any sort of boxing training whatsoever (even though Boll had promised that they'd have training before the match).

Knock the fucker out, screw the rules! if he is going to throw his own rules out the window and make it a "real" fight, do what it takes to win. If that means a foot to his groin, so be it, biting, so be it, this fight was supposed to be his ultimate embarassment and end his movie making career. They should have chosen better internet nerds to fight him.

Apparently Boll refused to fight anyone who had a chance of actually hurting him. It would have been highly entertaining if one of those rare nerds who compensated for their outcast status by becoming badasses had snuck through Boll's "I only want to beat up on people smaller and less able to fight than me because I'm a big German pussy" screening process.
