I stopped listening to their bullshit about two years ago.

They say they are overambitious. To me they are just plain unorganized.

Switched to DX9? Whoop-de-fuck. In five months they will have to make another switch to DX10.

And if someone says that he wants to make a do-all end-all game...well, good luck. Just don't be surprised when someone releases something better.

On a side note, I really look forward to Stalker. The only thing is, that I got tired of their "we are so overambitious ZOMG" bullshit that I keep hearing for the last 3 years.

Some of the best games have been released as a surprise, without following up on a 5 year hype.

Sheesh, just finish it and release it. It's not a cure for AIDS.

You know, I had completely forgotten that this game existed. I have the feeling that's happened to a lot of people who have been distracted by other games that actually come out within reasonable time.

While I commend them for being ambitious, they should have had a point where they knuckled down and concentrated on making the game work rather than trying to create all these features that will probably end up being surpassed by the time it is released. This game is almost as big a joke as Duke Nukem Forever.

Half Life II took 5 years to develop as well and it was a fantastic game. I´ll rather have them work longer and present a really cool game than doing it too fast and releasing it as just an average FPS. We have enough of those.

It takes a shorter time to contract, build, launch, commission, and deploy on active duty a Nimitz class aircraft carrier than to develop Duke Nukem Forever? Truly LMFAO-worthy.

I think even better than the CV is that "The two Mars rovers, Spirit and Opportunity were proposed, authorized, announced, designed, launched and successfully landed upon Mars where they have been exploring the surface for over 2.5 years." in the time Duke Nukem Forever has been in development.

Derek Smart and his horde of little boot-licking idol-worshipping one-eyed-because-the-other-one-has-a-load-of-Derek-Smarts-jizz-sprayed-all-over-it fanboys can go to fucking hell. He has not released a single game (free or commerical) which I have been able to play. That's not to say its not playable, or that its bad. I'm saying that its so badly coded that not even all the patches and workarounds could get it close to running on my system. But try saying that on their tech support forum. Oh no... That makes you a "hater". And they only just flame and ban "haters". Fucking little wankers obsessing over their incompetent and arseholish ego-monster master.

Derek Smart's games suck. Without fail, each one that is released is years behind the times, unplayable, and not fun.

I don't find Derek Smart loathsome. He's making a living out of his games, I can respect that. If the games suck, don't play them, obviously his horde of rabid fanboys like the things. It's not like he's selling bogus medicine or something.

I've heard he's all arrogant and stuff about his games, but I haven't seen it first hand and really am not particularly interested in seeing it.

Sounds like the reason you don't find him loathsome is simply because you haven't had any exposure to him.

Take the worst bits of John Romero's late 90s ego. Add in Rumsfeld and Cheney's hubris. Then a dash of Phelpsian grandiose self-importance.

Shake well (to ensure any remaining braincells are destroyed) and serve luke-warm. That's Derek Smart.

I can't help but think about Fable whenever they start stretching a game out like this...

Good point. However at this point I wasn't really following game media much so for me it was a shocker.

Fable delivered exactly what I'd expected because I'd read the change in brief for the game since the days of Project Ego.
