Viggo seems to be pretty quick with that sword.

Arnold couldn't even beat a chick (Brigitte Nielson) :D

Now if it were litterary Conan vs. litterary Aragorn I think Conan wins.

What about Cohen (discworld novels) vs. Aragorn Vs. Conan?

Conan wins saddly enough simply because Conan can not be defeated and always wins UNLESS his oppent is female then he will win round 2 and looses round 1 badly

Tis the rules of Conan who ALWAYS WINS

Why?
Aragon does not have Conan's greatist asset

Dumb-Luck, Infact Conan slings out so much dumb luck as to be able to defeat the entire Culture with one hand tied behind his back and half drunk

He is pure dumb-luck unleased

To expand on the above Conan has the inverse odds law. Say he is fighting errrmm... Me (C'tan)

The odds are in the region of

>1,000,000,000,000:1 in favour of the C'tan.

However due to the inverse odds law the chances of conan winning become

>1,000,000,000,000:1 in favour of Conan.

However as said woman clearly has no chance of defeating Conan it works against him...

But, wait, if Conan was facing a small puppy, due to the inverse-law thingimajig, he would lose...

This is the film characters, not the literary characters.

We all know that Ahnuld could break Viggo Mortensen like a twig.

Narsil/Anduril is the only sword he ever carries.

Even when it's broken.

It's not mentioned.

The only time we see him fight before Rivendell is on weathertop, where he uses a burning brand from the fire to ward off the wraiths.

He's not mentioned as carrying any other weapon at that point, but then he's living as a ranger, so open combat is not his thing.

In Reality™ Anduril is reforged before he leaves Rivendell.

Ahh-nuld wasn't playing Conan in that film (which was one of the most God awful movies ever, by the way).

But if we're talking about literary versions, I'd have to agree, Conan would likely win. Aragorn was a great warrior, but direct combat was Conan's specialty. Except when he was facing supernatural opponents, Conan never faced a foe who was either stronger or faster than himself (and he always managed to defeat the supernatural foes despite their advantages). He's sort of stereotyped as a dumb brute of a barbarian, but the truth is, he's far from stupid. He's not an intellectual, by any means, but he learns to speak probably more than a dozen languages fluently, becomes a highly successful leader of brigands, mercenaries, pirates, thieves, a great general, and a great king, and these are not things a stupid man can do - dumb luck will only carry you so far.

So on the whole, I'd say Conan. Aragorn is a great warrior, but Conan was literally the mightiest warrior of his age.

Conan was virtually superhuman in the books. Aragorn is pretty much the same in the books as he is in the movies (as far as fighting skill goes; he seems much more uncertain of himself in the movies).

In the Fellowship of the ring after the councel of Elronnd Narsil is reforged by elven smiths. Granted by this point these smiths are a mere fraction of what the reat elven smoiths of old but they werent that bad.

Nope. If you read the books, you'll find that Conan's assets are five simple ones: native intelligence, enormous strength, catlike quickness, vast willpower and (in his latter days) nearly unmatched skill.

Aragorn is far weaker than Conan, who can literally wrestle bulls. As for weapon skills, Conan regularly fought highly skilled opponents and won through by sheer ability.
