One time many years ago, I pitted the ISD vs a couple BOPs in a roleplaying scenario and asked myself, hmm... what will happen?
I had none of the info I have now. Up until then, I never bothered to compare the two different universes.
It took about a minute to decide that the ISD would definitely win. Plenty more weapons, huge in comparison, built to fight other such ships. I never thought phasers would be more powerful, they never demonstrated anything impressive as far as I was concerned. I don't go by flashy looks, I judge function. So it was never an issue.
Then I came upon this site by chance. I learned many more things about both universes, and I grew interested, though I still don't concern myself with versus debates. I agree nearly 100% with everything Mr. Wong had to say, since I could judge the conclusions for myself. The few things I have a slightly different view of are purely subjective.
So I was never "converted". I still like Star Trek, up until Voyager. I might watch the occasional episode of it, but only if I happen to watch tv at the time. I do prefer Star Wars though. It's grand, epic, and it has real people in it - at least a good deal more real than the plastic officers of TNG and later.

You just need to take a look at the DS or the Death Squadron in TESB and compare it to the puny SW vessels.
However, before visiting Mike´s Site, I enjoyed watching TNG and especially DS9 (not VOY!). Now there are always thoughts in my mind like 'soldiers without helmets and bad small arms! How lousy!' or 'This design really is stupid' or 'This looks like a Nelson-era ship-to-ship-battle' etc.
I always thought in the past, that a ISD will crush the federation through sheer numbers of fighters etc, same for ISA ships, I also thought that shadow warships would slice and dice ISDs, but the empire will still win anyway through numerial advantage. this site however comfirmed my lingering suspusion that it was all BS however.

Now i've studied the subject and read through all of SD.net and i STILL think trek would kick imperial ass! HA HA!!
Village Idiot title for that boy please?
On a more serrious note i came here originally a year or 2 ago and done a lot of reading. Before i read Wongs Terbolaser Comentaries etc i figured that a ISD would be about equal to GCS. I had no proof of strength of weapons etc but i assumed a photon Torpedo would be able to batter a ISD's shields down and the Ties would be dealt with by low powered phaser blasts.
I know now better. Thank you Darth Wong.
p.s. i saw the Star Trek Weakest Link and that has caused me to lose any respect i had left for Shatner and that wee punk Crusher. I figured 'Wil' was like that in the show coz he was young, now his balls have dropped he is cocky wee cunt.
I have not always been in the belief of star wars being better however I always was a warsie. And when I joined (this is when I thought ST was generaly dead) I was labeled as the Rabid warsie by Spanky de Dolphin but as it turns out I was right in the debate
I think the first experieance I had with VS. was when my brother & I started chasing eachother around the house with Lego X-Wings and Constellations...

I used to think an akira class starship could sheer off the bridge tower of an isd in one volley. And that shadow battlecrabs would slice them all to pieces. Than I saw this site. That was a year ago. Now look at me.(note, for all of you that used to post on sb.com do you remember Bronze Dragon? that was me. Than I changed my user name to moonblade, and have ben a warsie since)

I've always known that Wars would crush Trek, but I just assumed everyone accepted it, I never would've dreamed anyone would think Trek was more powerful. I was amazed at the ignorance of pro-Trek debaters when I first found Mike's site, and read the hatemail section.

Don't think I ever thought that Fed ships could take on an ISD, although I had no clue just how powerful and advanced Imperial technology was beyond Fed tech. Go figure -- the Wars universe has had hyperdrive and TL tech for thousands of years, while the Feddies are snot-nosed kids in comparison. Throw the Trek universe forward by several thousand years, and we might actually have a decent comparison...

I'm still a big fan of Starfleet battles, Deep Space Nine, and The Original Series. I knew the second I figured out the scale of craft in Starwars I knew there was no contest. (Mind you I was Seven at the time, and half of the board members weren't even born yet.)

I'd always figured that Wars was more powerful than trek, but I was a few orders of magnitude more generous to trek (which actualy put the two of them in the position for a reasonably pitched battle).
Now?
Wars would swat trek like a little fly. But it's ironic that I now prefer trek to wars.
I mean, trek capabilities seem much more ....reasonable, compared to the almost powergamed(for want of a better word) nature of Wars.
hmm, I also was a big fan of Pulps when I was smaller, so I still root for Martians, John Carter, Flash Gordon, Conan, and the Mythos, (Not to mention the Galactic patrol)
