Zaia, Diamonds, and Piercings

Post by Zaia »

Hi! Y'all are going to think that I am the most spoiled-rotten woman on the face of the planet, but I'm going to tell you this anyway, because it's amusing and makes me feel extremely loved. My parents gave me diamond earrings this year for Christmas, as did one of my brothers, so now I have THREE pairs (including of course the infamous pair my friend gave me last week). The phrase "when it rains, it pours" keeps coming to mind, although this is of course a lovely thing to have happen to me, as opposed to a nasty thing.

It seems everyone knew I wanted those earrings and they all decided at the same time to get them for me. Go figger. So, when I tell my guy friend about the other two pairs I now have, I plan on saying something about how my parents, my brother, and a friend who is just like another brother to me (him, of course) all got me what I most wanted! In that way, I both thank him again and point out that it is not seen by me as a romantic gift AND that I don't see him in a romantic light. Yes, I will talk with him at length about his not having a chance in hell, but I think I'll use that family comment to start off that discussion.

Anyway, thought you guys might find that interesting. I personally find it hilarious and told my family that I'm just going to have to get more piercings so I can wear them all at the same time. :D

Marla, I think this pretty much rules out your "diamond earrings = sexual favours" rule. And if that doesn't, I'd really rather not hear about it. :D

Cool, glad you got the gifts you wanted. And if it's going to rain... well you can't ask for a better gift than that.

I'm just on could nine because so many people wanted to give me something they knew I've wanted for a long time. This feeling is almost as good as how I felt when my family opened their presents from me. I know Ando will hate me for this, but I love Christmas. I love seeing people's faces when you give them something you know they'll love. There's nothing like it.

Anyway, I hope that you don't think I'm bragging, because I'm not. I just thought it was incredibly ironic (welcome to my life) that after years and years of no one getting me them (which I was fine with; I figured I'd have to hold out until I found myself a well-off boyfriend), I get THREE PAIRS!

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and I hope you celebrate Kristinmas tomorrow accordingly. Have a great evening!

Hmm...three pairs of diamond earrings...

Does that mean you're getting your ears pierced in three different places now? :D

I already have 5 holes (two at the bottom of each ear and one at the top of my left one), so I just need one more piercing so I can wear them all at once. :D

I'd make some relevant comment here, but the thought of piercing ears has suddenly mad me irrationally afraid for the safet of my ears; good things I got those earmuffs for Christm- er, Kristinmas...

Piercing your ears doesn't hurt at all! No need to be afraid of that, rationally or irrationally. I've actually thought about piercing more than just my ears (namely my tongue), but haven't ever decided completely over it, so I haven't done it. I'll probably get a litle tattoo before I pierce anything other than my ears....

Sorry, that's not really relevant, but I was in a sharing kind of mood. :D

Comments from the peanut gallery:

1) That's great that you can be so happy, its what the season should always be about, making others happy and being happy with others.

2) I think that's probably about as tactful a way as you can get to let the guy know that the earings mean nothing in that way to you.

3) Nonetheless always rememebr that jewelry from family and jewelry from non-family imply different things

4) Merry Xmas and enjoy the snow/slush :)

Hey, Zaia, sorry I didn't catch this the first time around, but if you're not gonna fuck that guy, you should at least give the diamonds back. Otherwise, that's just not fair.

Dude, did you read any of what I wrote in my other thread that is now I think 8 pages long? It's a lot more complicated than that.

And XaLEv, I'm not sure about the nose piercing. I can't wear one as a teacher, and I think that it would annoy me too much.

Personally, I never liked piercing of any kind. I think the female face and body look just great the way they are, with no jewellery or holes drilled through anything.

Amen. I can't say I care much for tattoos either. It's like spraypainting graffitti on the Taj Mahal - no matter how pretty a picture you make, on something that looks as good as that does to start with, it's only going to be a distraction and a blemish.

Zaia, what are you talking about? Ear piercing hurts more than tattoos! (OK, so I'm a cheapskate and have bee gunned all the time). The carteledge of your ear is apparently the second most painful place you can be pierced, second only to the carteledge on your nose (which in my case hurt all the way up to my eyebrow for four hours.
Could you put one of them in your nose?
No, she can't not without altering the earring or seriously ricking loosing it.
Straight post earrings can't be worn in the nose because the back can't be used (it gets clogged and risks infection, and can't be taken out without much pain and blood - trust me), and without a back it could very easily fall out and get lost, so needs to be bent into an s-shape before it can be worn.

Got that right. Why spoil something by staining it? As to the piercings, I'm just about ok with earrings, but can't for the life of me work out why anyone would want to mutilate themselves for fashion. All these sensitive parts of your body and your putting metal through them, why? It's not as an expresion of individuality, because too many other people do it; It's not sexuality, as they get in the way and the only way they can really be used is if your partner twists or pulls them, and you don't need them there for that anyway. So why?
