Are Socket A mobos still out there?

Post by TrailerParkJawa »

My Soyo KT-333 mobo died after 4 years of service. I don't want to drop a grand or two for a new system right now. Does anyone know if the Socket A mobos are still on the market? I'm sure I can find one at a computer show but was thinking of heading over to Fry's this weekend. Right now, I'd be okay with spending a hundred bucks on an old board to get another 6-12 months of use.

I think there's a few still out there, but for around $100 you could get a cheap S754 board and a Sempron if you can't find one.
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."- General Sir Charles Napier

I'd be okay with that. How would a Sempron compare to the Athlon 2400 I have now? I never pay attention to desktop hardware until its time to replace my current rig.

I picked up motherboard today for 40 bucks. My machine is back up and running again. I just went with another socket A mobo so I dont need to buy any new components.
