"Bigot"? Because he's not very open-minded about web browsers?
Over-dramatize much?

No, it doesn't, because "bigot" carries connotation that, despite whatever Webster says, go way beyond having a preference for a particular web browser, even an irrational one. Bigots burn crosses, not make snide remarks about Microsoft products.Destructionator XIII wrote:Let's see, what is a bigot. According to Webster: " a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudice"
Over-dramatic maybe, but if the word fits.

Because IE now supports tabbed browsing, we might se a reduction in sites that use things like javascript links which don't allow you to open a link in a new tab.pieman3141 wrote:This would affect us hardcore Firefox (or any open-source browser) users... how?
If the security is improved enough we should see a reduction in the number of computers zombified through IE, meaning less zombie machines to be used for spam or DDOSing.

Leaving aside Red's point about the social connotations of the word, I don't think it even fits. "Prejudice" and "intolerance" are terms which imply that you are talking about people, not products. The way you define the term, somebody who likes Coca-Cola and refuses to change his mind is a bigot. You also conveniently quoted only part of the Webster's definition. From the m-w.com website:Destructionator XIII wrote:Let's see, what is a bigot. According to Webster: " a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudice"

The second part of the definition is there in order to clarify the ambiguities in the first part which you are taking advantage of.Webster wrote:bigot: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance.

I can't download from MS's site, regardless of what browser I use. FF tells me it can't connect to some redirect site, Opera does nothing when I click the download button and IE6 throws up a generic error page.
I finally managed to get the setup file from Majorgeeks and it's installing now...I think. There's a bar saying "required updates" are being installed, despite WU saying I'm fully up-to-date. It's been going for a few minutes now.
Yesterday, I installed FF2.0. Even with the extra time I took to find updates for two obscure addons that failed the compatibility test, it still took less time to install and set up. Opera, a few weeks ago, was completely painless. IE on the other hand - so far, not impressed.

Only a moron downloads M$ release products. You wait a year or two.

When MS finally releases it's new browser, which they had years to perfect, I expect it to, well, work, sort of. I'm giving it an honest chance but so far it's just been kicking me in the nuts over and over again (why the hell does it hijack my default browser settings? Can't it just ask?) with no obvious advantages over either Opera or FF.Ace Pace wrote:Or find the Beta 3 version and cruise the net happily.MKSheppard wrote:Only a moron downloads M$ release products. As I said, very weird. Beta 3 asked my permission, I told it no, it shut up.Bounty wrote:When MS finally releases it's new browser, which they had years to perfect, I expect it to, well, work, sort of. Dislike of MS isn't prejudice. MS has a long history of crappy software. Hating MS is not prejudice; its postjudice.Destructionator XIII wrote:Let's see, what is a bigot. According to Webster: " a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudice"
