Vista programmer blog

Post by Adrian Laguna »

So I'm browsing the New York Times website (NYT is my favorite newspaper) and I come across this:
Pogue's Posts wrote:I’m hard at work on a book about Windows Vista, so I’m steeping myself as deeply in its culture, tips and tricks as the Web permits. I find Microsoft’s own programmers’ blogs especially interesting. They never say anything controversial and are therefore annoyingly antiseptic. But every now and then, you find a gem. How, for example, did THIS one ever get past the marketing people?

It’s a mock-serious apology for the features that didn’t make it into Vista, and it’s screamingly funny.

[snip spoilers]

This blog post is the funniest thing I’ve ever read from Microsoft. (Actually, it’s the ONLY funny thing I’ve read from Microsoft.)
Go check the link, it's  worthy.

I love the people in the comments who take safe delete seriously and explain why it's a bad idea.

The best part is reading the comments and the one or two people who didn't realize it was a joke.

In both cases, a TaskDialog window should pop up to warn users the action they're about to perform is unsafe.

No offense, but the way it was implemented in that screenshot was extremely confusing. I didn't even know that odd third caption button was the regular Close.
