Firefox II
I have just upgraded and was wondering whether anyone else has found the new shortcut key to post your message quickly without having to click 'submit'? It used to be Alt + S, but that now opens the browser history tab.

You are a clever man and I owe you one.Bounty wrote:Type about:config in the address bar, hit Enter
Change:
ui.key.chromeAccess to 5
ui.key.contentAccess to 4
This switches the Alt and Shift+Alt functions, so Alt+S submits and Shift+Alt+S opens the history menu.

Re: Firefox II
Does anyone else notice that this is much better than IE7?

Check for new versions manually on the site, the automatic updater seems to be a bit behind. I've found updates or equivalent versions for all but one of my extensions (Firesomething)Jason von Evil wrote:There appears to be a built in spell checker now.
I wish I could use some of my extensions though.

Just about any tabbed browser is much better than IE7.Xisiqomelir wrote:Does anyone else notice that this is much better than IE7?

Is there any compelling reason to upgrade for someone who doesn't really care about new features? I know it's free, but learning the new keyboard shortcuts and such is always a hassle.

It's too damn convenient.Mad wrote:Tools -> Options -> Main -> Startup -> When Firefox Starts -> Show my windows and tabs from last time isn't good enough for you?Bounty wrote:The crash recovery function is standard now. Maybe you can kill FF using the task manager to save your tabs
...yeah, missed that.
Well, there's the bugfixes, the spellchecker is really quite nice and available in tonnes of languages and all the old functions are still there. You can always upgrade and then downgrade if you don't like it.Is there any compelling reason to upgrade for someone who doesn't really care about new features? Oh yes, this spell checker is very good, particularly considering how shit I am at spelling.
Might help me improve my spelling. Hope we will get a grammar checker too as well, because I defiantly need to improve on that also.

Bug fixes, including some performance-draining memory leaks. I can't really think of any reason not to update. The benefits outweigh the drawbacks.Arthur_Tuxedo wrote:Is there any compelling reason to upgrade for someone who doesn't really care about new features? If nothing else, the spell checker itself is worth it.
That'll probably be a while, since I haven't seen any grammar checkers in free software yet.Ubiquitous wrote:Hope we will get a grammar checker too as well, because I defiantly need to improve on that also.
BTW, "defiantly"? Well, it is grammatically correct... (At least, Word says so.)
The nice thing about Firefox is that you can always create an extension to make it more convoluted and difficult if you so desire.Bounty wrote:It's too damn convenient.Mad wrote:Tools -> Options -> Main -> Startup -> When Firefox Starts -> Show my windows and tabs from last time isn't good enough for you?
