Toughest movie vampires.
So, since vampires vary so widely in powers and vulnerabilities in various movies, which movie vamp could hand all of the others their undead asses?

Shut the hell up. That movie was awesome. I suppose you don't like Sam Raimi either?Superman wrote:Well, I don't know about the toughest but I can sure tell you about the weakest! Go watch that pathetic Ed Wood worthy moive, "From Dusk Till Dawn." I have never seen a more pathetic attempt at filmaking than this piece of rubbish.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Oh, come on. I have been more stimulated by watching paint dry. The problem is that you know that "From Dusk till Dawn" sucks ass, but you still try to defend it because you think it's cool or something.
Reasons why it sucked ass
1. The vampires could be killed by being beaten up.
2. The movie was actually a partially finished script that was going
nowhere, so another writer came in and introduced the whole
retarded vampire plot.
3. The writer seems to think that any unexpected reference to popular
culture is cool (yeah, cool like a stomach pump).
4. Does anyone else get the feeling that there's the unmistakable sense
of somebody behind the camera thinking these guys in the movie are hip and interesting? (Gee if they are cool, then the movie must be too!)
5. It was fucking rediculous.

It's got to be Dracula - he has the fewest weaknesses. The movie by Francis Ford Coppola followed the sequence of the book pretty closely (totally changed the movie by making Dracula a tragic hero though... ugh!), but Dracula is not affected much by sunlight, he just loses some ability to use various powers of his. He can influence minds in a very similar way to the way the famous Jedi mind trick works, and it takes a strong will to resist him. Most crosses don't bother him either.
By the end of Queen of the Damned Lestat could be in the sun, and before that he already intimidated the crap out of any vampire that wasn't an ancient. The movie doesn't spell out his abilities very well other than that he's very strong, can fly and move so fast humans can't really see him. There's also some hints that he's telepathic (in the book he is). Plus he was a rock star.
The one weekness that really really sucks about Anne Rice style vamps is that the guys can't get it up. It must be the reason they despair. Living centuries, all these powers, never ageing but can't get it up and get some action.
Akasha (the original vampire) was stronger than any vampire. She could be in the sun, go years (at least) without feeding. Fly incredibly fast and far. Cause other vampires to burst into flames with a thought. Grant more power to other vampires by letting them feed on her blood.

Dracula in Dracula 2000 is basically immortal until God let's him die. He has the standard Dracula powers. Strength, speed, turing into wolves, bats, mist, making other vampires, attracting hot chicks, banging Vitamin C against the ceiling....oh that's not a classic Dracula power. Actually cosidering all the other women in the movie were better looking it's kind of sad.
Religious artifacts piss Dracula off and may cause him physical pain but that seems to be about it. Silver works well against other vampires. Beheading too. You'd think that would work on Dracula too but it wasn't tried.
Direct sunlight does hurt him when he's weak but we're never show it's effects when he's juiced up on blood.
_____More for Dracula in general.
Dracula has to get some points just for the number of times (and different ways) that Christopher Lee's version was resserected from "death".

I got to go with the reapers here, they can ONLY be killed by sunlight, silver to there very protected heart or lack of blood. they cut off part of one of there heads and it's eye still looked around at them. Plus they out number Dracula.
Also depends about what Drac were using here, he had some pretty nasty forms in Castlevania.
I agree with the weakness of FDtD vamps, almost as weak as Buffy vamps, only not as grand of pussies.
Blade vamps are pretty strong too, until he got the silver nitrate caped bullets, he would have to aim at either the head or the heart to kill the vamps with his gun.

Alucard from Hellsing
I would use a vampire from a different source, Hellsing(a japanese anime)The main vampire in the anime, Alucard(or Arucard, or so I have heard) can heal wounds instantly(even if most of his body is ripped to pieces) teleport, communicate telepathically, move extremely rapidly, transform into a demonic doglike creature with many eyes, transform into a shapeless dark mass with many eyes and the ability to create sharp mouths anywhere on it, turn into mist, summon demonic servants, raise zombie-like creatures from the victims of his blood sucking, turn invisible, move through walls, take bat form, and expand himself into structures(such as the hallway in which he trapped two vampires he was hunting). It is damn near impossible to kill him; one man stabbed throughout his abdomen with sharp, blessed swords, another shot him in the head and other places in his body, another vampire had his ghouls(the zombielike creatures listed above) shoot about several tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition into him, which turned him into a pile of blood and guts, from which he almost immediately recovered, and he can apparently walk in sunlight, which is demonstrated by the capabilities of lesser vampires to do so.
I'll have to go with Alucard (spell it backwards) as well. The original Dracula wasn't actually all that great; he had all the weaknesses traditional vampire mythology has (garlic, crosses, silver, running water, etc.) and missed some opportunites to kill his enemies.
Blade is tough, especially with his weapons, but he doesn't have quite the same insane supernatural toughness some other vampires seem to have.
Rice's vamps are extremely powerful, with only sunlight and fire being possible weapons but they spend too much time gothing. (Look Ma, I invented a word!) Alucard would probably take a Rice vampire out while it was contemplating the meaning of existence.

Valec from "vampires" was pretty hard, soaked up god knows how many bullets like a sponge and just laughed, healed a direct headshot instantanously and caught up with a modern day car which quite definately had the accelerator floored.
Killed people by numerous means, one pleasant way being to push his hand into their torso and rip em in half.

Thing is, with the Lost Boys, they were rendered undefeatable by inviting them in, which in other carnations is one of their biggest weak spots.
I don't hold Rice's wimps as being proper vampires - they had none of the symptoms and too much humanity. Vampyres don't count!

The master Vampire from the novel Vampire$ of which Vampires is a bastard adaptation. Now that sunuvabitch was bad ass.
But an Antiveludan or Methusela from Vampire: The Masquerade would probably be even more powerful. They are supposed to be god like, in fact some are supposed to have been worshipped as gods.

Vamps from the Vampire Series by Christopher Rice... Erm, I think that was the name. New-born ones are fairly weak, but ancient ones are very powerful... Strong enough to lift hundreds of pounds without sweating, telekinesis, telepathy, ability to throw knives faster than bullets, hold their breath for hours at a time, moves faster than the eye, can fly, regenerate, etc. One survived a nuke from a few hundred feet away, another a few point-blank shotgun blasts into the heart, another falling 48 stories down. They're vulnerable to normal physical attacks, but are extremely tough. Sunlight weakens them, but doesn't kill them; the stronger ones were immune to it. Crosses and holy water, etc doesn't do jack.

Either
John Carpenters Vampires - can only be killed be natural sunlight, though they can be wounded by silver and impaling. Though they must sleep in the earth...
Reapers (blade2) - immensely powerful, but suffer from the many frailties of Blade vamps. Like a vulnerability to UV light and the whole impale = "dust" problem.

Rifts vampires are funny critters, alright: they can stand at ground zero of a nuclear blast and not even feel it, but you can kill them by the scores with a *fire truck* (I've done this... it's fun!) The Rifts vampire's biggest fear: a cheap little Techno-wizard flare that *makes it rain.* I'd also have to question Reapers as being der uber-vampire: cut them off from blood and their own metabolism kills them within hours.
As far as Vampire: the Masquerade goes, antediluvian vampires are badasses. One of them recently woke up in one of the "Year of the Reckoning" suppliments... it took a simultaneous assault by all the were-critters in the area, all the local mages, and neutron bombs and orbital mirrors throwing intensified sunlight from the Technocracy onto the area to finally kill the thing. If memory serves, the battle lasted two or three days straight.
