Portable Gaming: What do you play?

Post by SAMAS »

How many of you have portable gaming systems(for the sake of this discussion, laptops don't count!), which do you have, and what games do you play on them?

I have a semi-busted GBA SP, and my brother has a PSP.

The games I've been playing on it recently are River City Ransom EX and Zone of the Enders: The Fist of Mars.

The game that I've been playing the most, suprisingly enough, is Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo.

My Ninty DS Lite, which I acquired in July. It suits me well, especially given I was apprehensive at first since it's been a while since I played my bro's GB Color or my own GB Pocket which is about a decade old now.

I find playing Worms Open Warfare, Brain Training, Phoenix Wright and Advance Wars helps me get through a work day easier.

DS Lite is all the rage with the cool kids.

Currently playing Advance Wars Dual Strike and Metroid Prime Hunters. Waiting for Phoenix Wright: Justice for All and Final Fantasy III.

I have avaricious eyes on a PSP, but Wii first.

I couldn't justify buying a PSP. Sure, it's fun from what experience I've had with it and there are a couple of games I could see myself getting for it, but the price, shit battery life, load times and size put me off.

I also await FFIII for the DS though.

I'm at the tipping point where I think I'll get enough playtime out of it to justify the purchase, but I'm not going to get one yet. I nearly sprung for a second hand one off a mate, but decided to save for more Wii games.

I have the Star Wars Edition of Trivial Pursuit and the basic D&D board game. Do they count? :P

I have a psp and a DS.

Just finished Pokemon Blue Rescue Dungeon (nethack-like dungeon crawler) on the DS, and just started playing Contact.

On the PSP, I have Spectral Souls, the infamous constantly disc-accessing strategic rpg. It's not a bad game if you can endure the frequent pauses of loading.

My bro being the maniac he is bought two SPs and an first gen. DS. Even so, the only games I truly play on them are Metroid: ZM and Fusion. I try to get into the Final Fantasy collection specifically number two, but I'm having a hard time remembering where and what I have to do next every time I start playing again.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Utsanomiko and I had so much fun playing single-cart multiplayer with Mario Kart DS tonight, I just might have to get my own copy of the game.

A DS, with all of three games on it(I'm poor).

FF3 will be on it soon, and there shall be four.

First-gen DS with about half a dozen games. Right now I'm mostly playing Advance Wars DS and MK DS because those two games are pure silicon crack.

I've been thinking about picking up another game, maybe Metroid, if I can scrape together the cash. Got to save some for my Wii :)

I've also got an early 'brick' GB lying around (a transparent one, even!) and a GBA, but they haven't been getting much action lately. Not since I replayed Beyond the Nexus last year, anyway.

DS with three games. Worms, Mario Bros and Metroid Hunter.

I need to find a decent RPG to bide the time until the proper Pokemon game comes out for it.... Yes dammit, I enjoy the Pokemon games!

Any suggestions for a half decent RPG?

Final Fantasy III and Children of Mana are coming out soon, so that's probably a fairly safe bet until Diamond/Pearl hit.

PokéPark edition DS (bought back when I still lived in Nagoya), with my copy of Pokémon Diamond, direct from Japan, firmly entrenched in its game slot for the next few months at the very least.

I have to admit, I'm kind of surprised that there's so many Pokémon fans here. ^^;; I knew SAMAS is one, or was one back in the old days of the fandom, but I wasn't aware there were others here.

*Raises hand*

I bought Blue back in '99 and played it for months. Got Stadium, too. I still remember my all-star team: Psycho, Powerplant, Fireborn, Aqualord, Slasher and Sparky, all lvl 80-90 8) - I wonder if the cart's battery still works...

I was thinking about getting back into the Pokémon games this generation. Is there a DS version yet? Is it any good?

There's a DS version out in Japan, but it's just been released last month, to a respectable score of 35 from Famitsu and general sales madness (beating New Super Mario Bros for the highest first week sales for the DS). This season's look is Diamond and Pearl.

All the usual new gribblies are there to catch, and you can transfer in from the last GBA release (though you then have to catch your old beasties in a special arena style battle).

I've got a GBA SP 2 (love that screen). I've been playing Advance Wars 2 on it quite a bit with a little bit of Castlevania- Harmony of Dissonance and Metroid Zero thrown in for good measure.

I'd really like to get a DS in the very near future.

Got a DS Lite in the first month it came out here, best portable gaming experience ever. Starfox Command, Sonic Rush, Mario Kart DS are my top 3 most played games so far. Bomberman, and Megaman ZX are close behind.

Advance Wars DS, Starfox Command, Mario Kart DS, Metroid Hunters. And FF3, once it's released.

Only ever had a Gameboy Color. Games included an Asteroids port, pokemon red, blue and Silver, and LoZ: Oracle of Ages.
My own personal dream team for blue was a Golem to tank, Articuno as a dragon-counter, a Dragonite with the strongest fire, electric, normal, and ice type attacks, mewtwo, jolteon with double kick and pinmissile to provide a quick strike option, and I left the sixth option open for customization, switching in and out pokemon to achieve a desired configuration. Although it was almost always occupied by a Gyarados just to allow me to get into and out of the game's last dungeon.
I was happy with the power level, given that I had the second highest speed, and highest special and defense stats in the game, but electric types and other flying counters were always worrying.
In Silver, I wound up with a Tyranitar, Mewtwo(Shadowball and Dynamic punch allow him to trump other Psychics and defend against Dark and Steel types), Typhlosion for fire attacks(A Gold version Ho-oh would have been a good replacement), Lugia for it's whopping far out statistics, And thats all I can remember for sure. It's kinda hard to remember after we lost the cartridge.
