Favorite Original Soundtrack Songs

Post by JLTucker »

What are your favorite "original" songs from soundtracks, whether it is from a television show, a movie, or a video game. By "original", I mean that it was created specifically for the movie, tv show, or video game. Here are mine:

Hello Zepp - Saw
Silent Hill - Silent Hill
End of Small Sanctuary - Silent Hill 3
Out of Gas - Empty Derelict - Firefly
River's Tears - Firefly
One Winged Angel - Final Fantasy: Advent Children Version
A Window to the Past - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
The Story Continues - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Harry in Winter - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Resident Evil Main Theme - Resident Evil (Movie)
Seizure of Power - Resident Evil (Movie)
Rev. 22:20 - Underworld
The Undertaker (Renholder Mix) - Underworld: Evolution
Doom III Theme - Doom 3
May It Be - The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

Whatever you have to say for the series, the Hellsing OST was fantastic. It's probably one of the best anime soundtracks out there.
What is Project Zohar?

Here's to a certain mostly harmless nutcase.

Half the songs off the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. Of which Man Of Constant Sorrow is the best.

I love the smell of September in the morning. Once we got off at Richmond, walked up to the 'G, and there was no game on. Not one footballer in sight. But that cut grass smell, spring rain...it smelt like victory.

Dynamic. When [Kuznetsov] decided he was going to make a difference, he did it...Like Ovechkin...then you find out - he's with Washington too? You're kidding.

Nerevar Rising - Morrowind
Truth and Recounciliation - Halo
All of Them - King Arthur
Hummel Steals the Rockets - The Rock
Promentory - The Last of the Mohicans
Chateau - Matrix Reloaded
Love - Serenity
Resurrection - Passion of the Christ
Radiowaves - The Fifth Element
Bastila Shan - Knights of the Old Republic
Journey to the Line - Thin Red Line
Tero no uta - Earthsea Anime
The Storm and the Dead - Neo Battlestar Galactica

Most of these are songs I use extensively while gamemastering. Some I just enjoy listening to. Radiowaves is absolutely brilliant for conveying a sense of unstoppable, all-encompassing menace, while Promentory is the quintessential "running through deep forests while being macho" theme.

EDIT: Added some.

The Burly Brawl - The Matrix Reloaded
Dancin Doll Sexy Megamix - Iczelion
Storm Center - Bleach Original Soundtrack 1
Opening Theme Music - The Original Batman Movie
The Tragic Prince - Castlevania Symphony of the Night

So far I've yet to get tired of any of these, for the most part.

"Kaneda" is good but I like "Tetsuo" because it's longer. I was also going to first say "Requiem" as my second choice, because that's a positively epic song, but I decided that I liked the energy in "Shomyoh" moreso.

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly Theme.
In fact a lot of Ennio Morricone's work but in particular The Ecstacy of Gold, The Scicilian Clan, Gabriel's Oboe (The Mission), the Casualties fo War Theme and most of what he did for Sergio Leone's westerns.

The Max Payne theme (the version from MP2 specifically) really fits the games.

Serenity from, uh, Serenity.

Late Goodbye by Poets of the Fall was made for Max Payne 2 and is a great song. The music video made for it was pretty cool, too.

Both from the Total Annihilation sound track. Hell the entire sound track is damn good and well fitted to the situations they're played in.

'Humans Being' by Van Halen, for the movie Twister. It was made at a time when Sammy Hagar was about to leave the band and things were looking rocky, but personally, it's my favorite VH track. I just love the layering, and it was unashamedly a song for a 'road movie' :P

Also, 'What is love' by Haddaway, as seen in A Night at the Roxbury. I know, I know, but I'll play the flipside and say that the film was written for the song :D
lol, opsec doesn't apply to fanfiction. -Aaron
