Asst. Asst. Lt. Cmdr. Smi wrote:I remember when after Saddam Hussein was "elected" a couple months back, and 100% of all voters voted for him, someone in the media thought it was a sign that Iraqis supported Hussein. I think the exact quote was something like this:
100% of all Iraqis went to the polls with the same thought: "Yes to Saddam Hussein"!
Of course, when you have no other option, what would you expect the results to be?
Iraqis did have another choice if they didn't want to vote for Saddam. The other choice was called a bullet in the head after visiting Saddam's happy torture room.

I grabbed this stupid quote from a trekkie I was having a debate with on a transformers board. The debate was and ISD v.s. the Enterprise E.

Since most transformers fans barely acknowledge logic, let alone science, I decided to go with, to quote Mike, " The Lazy Man's method", of just using the stats given in the tech manuals.

first off the stats used for star wars are hyperbole beyond any belief.

2nd remember these power supplies are for what are still weak and obsolete lasers. You can put a kajillion terrawatts into throwing a rock if you want to it's not going to make it more powerful than a high intensity energy beam weapon
~emphasis mine

here's the thread if you want to read the whole thing. I'm dragonterratron and I enter into the thread on the 5th page.

After slashing through the typical trekkie arguments (the nav deflector, ISD bridge ramming etc...), I made more progress than I was hoping for: I was actually able to convince someone that the E-E isn't invulnerable to lasers.

Ah now that was classic of celebrity navel-gazing.

Reporter : "So Eric, why did you kick that Liverpool fan in the head?"

Cantona : "When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea"

Complete stupidity from start to finish. unless you were a football fan at the time, in which case the man was apparently speaking universal wisdoms

Contestants on game shows give stupid answers sometimes. Once on the Weakest Link, the winners from episodes of Fear Factor were playing, and on the final round, one of the questions was "What year will the US celebrate it's 300th anniversary", and the person said "1872". People on reality TV shows are especially stupid.

Are you a fat Lager-lout, with a mouth larger than your IQ? Can you be a vacuous, narcisistic exhibitionist on a world-class scale? Has you hair dye seeped through your scalp and eroded what little number of brain cells had survived the onslaught of massive alchoholic binges? Are you a slapper? If yes then good luck on BB 4. :D

There's always the classic "All your base are belong to us" and "There is no chance to survive make your time"

My current favorite is, "I can't emphasize enough, princess, how much we need you in that chair...Ohh don't worry about him, he's fine, he does this all the time" -K, from MIB 2. It's only really funny when you hear him say it in the scene.
Welcome to the Divine Empire of Ashcroft:
-Hey, you! Sending e-mail, eh?Say Cheese!
-What I say here is forever being recorded. Wonderful, isn't it?
-Jack Chick develops the most disturbing Chick tract to date. It may be viewed here: MIGHTY MORPHIN' SATAN RANGERS! GO!

It may not be the most intelligent thing ever written in English or something that closely resembles English, but it is really fuckin' hilarious. I love it! :D

Very good, Rob. You'll understand why it's important for you to obey soon enough.
