Do you know what "known villain" means? It's when you know without a doubt that a person is guilty. And if you know someone committed a crime like murder or rape and was going to do it again what would be the harm in putting them down?

And if you make a mistake, too bad ? People do make mistakes. Hell, in comicbookland it's even worse than real life, since there's a good chance that he really was mind controlled or possessed, or the evil twin/clone/android double/shapeshifter did it, or that your own memories were tampered with.

Frank Castle, like Chuck Norris, doesn't make mistakes. Or, well, so far he hasn't. And the types he goes after are typically the ones who don't have a high risk of being mind controlled, possessed, androided or whatever. I.e. everyday average scum.

Think of the grief Frank causes to those mobsters friends and families. Many of which probably wouldn’t have a problem with there executions if they were decided by a court, not a fucking vigilantly.

Incidentally, that's the topic of the next arc, "Widowmaker." (Albeit it's the wives as the antagonists -- but in a preview page, he kills the female of a couple.)

I read as much there (though the assumption was pornographers instead of "just" molesters), but as my mind has a tendency to skim whatever I'm looking on (yes, even visuals), I didn't even notice the camera, the bed being in the basement and the apparent tapes on the shelves, much less put two and two together -- apparently (IMO) my attention span is "less than short-term." x_X

Nevertheless, on first thought I thought that those pages told a "silent" (no dialogue, no captions) story in and of itself, it was that good.

No, it isn't. Because once an individual starts believing that they are the sole arbiter of "justice" they are prone to making decisions based on their own subjective morality, not the wider code of ethics that informs actual justice. Frank Castle only spares people he thinks are innocent, and, well, he's mentally unstable and should be in a loony bin.

Actual Justice? The only difference between the justices are in the amount of people who follow it. If everyone in the entire world believed that it was just to kill murderers on the sight then it would be just.

So going around killing people akin to the Joker or Hitler wouldn't help society? If Batman had killed the Joker the third time he escaped many people would still be alive or sane. That seems like a plus.

So basically a slope argument. There's no evidence that someone like Frank will someday start killing innocents. Just like there's no evidence that someday you might kill somebody.

If someone like Batman existed, he'd be shot by the criminals the very instant he'd jump out of a toilet in his costume. In desolate crime-ridden shitholes with ineffectual police, Frank Castle would have a better chance at stopping some of the criminals before getting killed.
