Very well. Make sure to toggle 'AI does not make changes during a simultaneous game' under your empire options.

Someone's empire gets all FUBAR'd by the AI, they're entitled to a rollback. But everyone needs to remember to set the toggle so the AI doesn't make changes so that we won't have to do this again.

Fine, I thought Kojiro meant this morning's turn at 10 but apparently he didn't play his turn due on Wednesday or so.Arthur_Tuxedo wrote:Someone's empire gets all FUBAR'd by the AI, they're entitled to a rollback. Yeah, let's make this the final time please. When we roll back for one player it's delaying the game four days (this time we are going back six days), and seven other people have to throw away their turns for one. It should not happen unless some dire emergency calls you away and you can't play your turns, for example your best friend being hit by a car or your dog dying or you being physically unable to make it to a computer. The normal course of life everybody is busy and if we roll back because of work or exams or school there will be endless rollbacks.

We have... in the past two weeks we've gotten like 3 turns done. And two or three turn extensions.
Please remember people when you ask for a rollback, you are delaying the game by four days and making a potential seven other people redo their turns. U235 has been missing a lot of turns lately and he never asks for a rollback, because he's got his queues set up and his empire set to "do not make changes during a simultaneous game." The option is under Ministers at the very bottom of the checklist.
AI fucking up your turn should be the only excuse, or potentially a very crucial pivotal point like fucking up a battle, or some kind of glitch. Other than that if you miss with no notice, I suggest we do not roll back.
Also Kojiro if you are afraid of people killing your ships at a warp point when you don't want them to you can easily solve that... mark all warp points as minefields. That way in order to go onto a warp point you have to order your ships to manually move onto that warp point. When you use the attack command, your ships will follow the enemy ships but they won't follow them onto the minefield as far as I know. That way if you mark every warp point in the galaxy like that, your fleets will always be fighting in open space unless you want them to do otherwise. Of course it creates a hassle for movement because when you want to warp you have to manually click on a square, but it's a worthwhile sacrifice. You can also create "highways" for your ships that way, make "roads" flanked by sectors marked by minefields, if you want ships to move a particular route (but they will not go through a warp point marked as a minefield).

I hate to do this but I think it only seems fair.
I'm going to have to bow out at this point. I'm sorry, but I've simply lost interest in the game. If anyone wants to take over my spot, I'll be happy to pass along the password.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Was it because I bugged you too much Bill? Damn. You are welcome back whenever.
Brad before you sign on as him, can we ask Dalton. The Shadows plus the Earth Alliance puts you in a conflict of interest and besides one person controlling two players is not such a good idea.

No, that's not it at all. Actually, your emails probably kept me going longer than I otherwise would have, and I greatly appreciated them.brianeyci wrote:Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Was it because I bugged you too much Bill? Damn. You are welcome back whenever.

The galaxy is going to shit in twenty turns so I wish you could stay. Seems strange to stay for 157 turns and leave when the game's going to be fin at around 200, but I get it, I've wanted to quit for a long time. The endless retrofits, the hundreds and now coming on thousands of clicks really turned me off. SE:IV is a spreadsheet in space, without the RP it is not really that fun and Marxis was so boring. I had to take a month off, but if you want back in two or three months from now you can, I took a month off earlier and months off for my exams.

Thanks for getting your turn on time Kojiro.
Not to sound like a broken record, and not specifically about you Kojiro, the turn's due in less than fourteen hours for everybody. I only mention a second time because last night was the US midterms and I'm guessing most people were busy yesterday and today. I don't really care if people miss turns, one every two days is fine, but please have "do not make changes" on. Thanks.

Until Dalton rejoins, I'm going to be running the EA turns, just so we can get faster turning. I might make some decisions that depart radically from the previous administration, which to me is fine. But more likely I'll be just submitting blank turns. If anybody has a problem with that, just tell me. I definitely will not be treating the EA as some kind of Corporate subjugate state, that is funneling money from EA's economy to mine or gifting ships or anything.

The whole Arcadia battlegroup to take out a single space station? Wow. If he wasn't one of the quitters, Admiral Harlock must be gunning for another star.
FYI, Brian, if you don't mind, I would suggest that at the very least Admirals Foss and Szitovsky were among the resignations; Foss because her backstory has her as a personal friend of Alshain's, and Szitovsky because I had to get special permission to use the name.
I don't care about any of the other admirals I've named in the RP, although it seems only proper that Harlock be in command of the Arcadia [/fanboy]

Special permission? Good to see we have fans.
You sure you don't want Harlock in charge of the four carrier battlegroups going to liberate the Narn?
All's well, I'm just sexing up EA a bit, both with RP and in the game. Maybe by Christmas Dalton or you can take it back. By then it'll be highly automated... I've worked out the numbers and with your economy optimized you could make 1580 Hellbores a turn. A little less since I plan on fielding some gargantuan carriers, but still around 1k a turn. Have to get a few of those expensive Omegas killed off in a pointless war first.
I just noticed the Dilgar are transporting one billion Lorkan slaves through Canton. Wouldn't it be a shame if they were killed heh heh. I'm not redoing the turn, but nobody better accuse the Earth Alliance of war crimes in the RP next turn, because transporting one billion people with one ship is bullshit. The game mechanics are pretty bullshit. If you want to save those 1.7 billion souls Tobor you'll keep that transport put or it'll be shot out of the sky .
Someone should design a B5 mod from the ground up for SE:V. Someone who knows a lot about B5. And a Star Trek mod too (which by the way there's a new version out for SE:IV.)

I still think my mod idea is the way to go, which is to lay some groundwork formulas and they design each race or set of races on a custom basis using racial techs, so you can eventually build up to having all sorts of different universes, and you can then choose to do crossovers if you want to. Would also include the three-tiered ship sizes that I was talking about.

Well it's not really that difficult to start a spreadsheet, especially if you agree that all weapons will just have different names (perfect balance) and just have small trivial changes. I was fooling around a couple weeks ago and I came up with :
X * (1.02)^([%Level%] - 1)
where X would be the starting value of the weapon. I was envisioning five different types, strategic, heavy, medium, light and tiny. Strategic would be 4x, heavy would be 2x, medium 1x, light 0.5x and tiny 0.25x. The reload rate would be exactly the same too, so you could fire two strategic shots for every heavy shot and four medium shots for every strategic shot. Or 16 tiny shots for one strategic shot. The catch would be, all net damage would be the same, but it would be up to whether you wanted to make a ship with one big shot or many smaller shots. The only thing that'd change would be weapons names, like strategic laser, strategic nuke, strategic particle beam, strategic plasma cannons, strategic railgun, with damage level across the board. And then it would be a question of racial preference. Damage wouldn't matter what weapon you researched, they'd just look different, have different reload rates, different travel speeds, use ordinance over supply, etc. And of course look different -- SE:V combat looks a hell of a lot better.
I am not sure whether I can use the exponent function which increases damage every research level by two percent. If I can, everything would be perfectly balanced.

Well, I got owned straight to hell. Man, I suck at this mod.

Well it seems I underestimated Dilgar firepower. They've got 12 range quad pulsars, and though the Centauri have 16 range weapons, 19 range versus 10 range (Minbari versus Brakiri) is not nearly as bad as 16 versus 12 (Centauri versus Dilgar). I don't have time to look at the battle anymore, but it looks like launching a zillion fighters in groups of five really blew it out.
If you put your ships in a fleet, they may have glitched.
I just pitted a hundred Scion against a hundred Black King and you win two to one every time. But in the simulator the ships don't start out in a fleet. I'll watch the whole battle later, but on the first turn more than half your ships didn't even shoot. This might have something to do with your targeting priorities, but even if he had a wall of fighters blocking your ships you should've won given you have more range and the fighters are pinpricks. Did you put your ships in a fleet?
Anyway he had two times the number of warships as you, so it looks like the range issue was overrated and sheer numbers won. Maybe targeting "has no weapons" killed you, because against the wall of fighters you'd have to target "nearest" first or you'll just run up and not shoot. But what do I know .
Anyway Kojiro missed his last turn.

Yes, they were in a fleet. I didn't want to risk that they'd fight his fleet one at a time.
