Today's creationist moron - Nov 7 2006

Post by Darth Wong »

Got this in the creationtheory.org E-mail inbox today. Contest time: how many fallacies and unfounded claims can you spot in this drivel?
Name: Daniel O
E-Mail: lionsden888@hotmail.com
Subject: YOU NEED TO REPENT

Dear Sir (And the term is used loosely),

Actually, it is secular humanists who are the irrational bigots.

They can't handle the truth of the Bible so they repsond with hate-filled rhetoric and nonsense such as yours. I Corintians 13:6 (the love chapter) notes, "Love does not rejoice in evil but rejoices in the truth." Since your vitriole is irrational, arrogant, and evil, and most definitely misguidedly false, you are the hateful one.

Also, evolution is nonsense. It is the argument of rebels who masquerade as scientists.
Things do not evolve, my friend. As Romans 1:18-19 notes, "The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them." Read on if you are interested in the truth. Furthermore, it is curious that the misguided only attribute what God created to evolution. What about some human activity. I haven't seen many bicycles "evolving" into cars. You know I haven't even seen a Honda Accord "evolve" into a Honda Prelude. Get the point? Or perhaps your web site evolved. MAybe that is why it is so misguided. God's creation is very ordered, beautiful, and it is the height of nonsense to think it evolved.

With regard to other "faiths", the only true faith is Christianity. By the way, Judahism is fulfilled in Christianity and Jesus was a Jew. Frankly, Christianity is broader than all other "faiths" combined. I have yet to see someone actually live by the "sacred" book of another "faith" because they don't make sense, and are without power to change a person. Psalm 119 notes, "I have seen a limit to all perfection, they commandments are exceedingly broad." The analogy is like this, think of it as a funnel.
*Christianity appears narrow, but when you step through the horisons broaden. See Jesus Christ's statements in John 14:6 and John 10:10.
*Other religions are broad but lead to tyranny. Take Hinduism as a case in point if you can bear the unpleasant truth.

As a final point, mankind would not have progressed without Christianity. Frankly, the founders of science is replete with Christians like Isaac Newton. In art, there was Vincent Van Gogh.

I know the truth is hard to accept, especially when you won't, but I would leave you with God's promise to Abraham in Genesis 12:3 which applies to all beleivers in Christ as well because of Jesus' work on the cross.

I will be praying that God would contend with your silly mind. Frankly, this web site tells me your life is pretty empty and meaningless.

Goodbye

I am getting to the point where if I read something on the Internet and they spell vitrol "vitrole" and believers "beleivers" I automatically dismiss it. I also love how he puts evolve in quotes. One of my high school teachers said it best... if you don't know what a word means, put it in quotes to cover your ass.

Also when you start with "Dear Sir (And the term is used loosely)" you are on the attack right away. I can't believe how many people think it's polite to start with buried attacks like that, insinuations, and think that fucktard, retard, moron, stupid is somehow worse. Calling someone's words "nonesense" is far more insulting than calling someone a fucktard, but flame a guy like that and he'd treat it as proof positive that you're immature.

I can't stop laughing to start tearing it apart, but this stood out.
I haven't seen many bicycles "evolving" into cars.
I know there's more to that statement but honestly that fucking took the cake in terms of bald out and out nonsense.

This part takes the rest. I was attending a Dawkin's lecture last week and he made a funny observation about the correllation between misrepresting/complete misunderstanding of evolution and embracing creationism.

Though this part is running a close 2nd. If we're going to take the good because people who do great things are Christians what about the Crusades, the Inquistion, witchhunts, and relic selling?

I'm sorry, my bullshit detector/counter blew up, and I can't count that high manually. However, this bit is a real gem:

Yes, men who in a very un-christian fashion decided to push the limits of human knowledge, instead of adhering to dogma. I can definitely see how christianity was a vital contributor to their discoveries alright  .

I like how he manages an ad hominem in the salutation.

The only way he could've been more blatant would be "Greetings, fuckface!"

Dear Sir (And the term is used loosely),

Actually, it is secular humanists who are the irrational bigots.
1 -- unfounded claim
They can't handle the truth of the Bible
2, 37 -- unfounded claim, question-begging (is the Bible true?)
so they repsond with hate-filled rhetoric and nonsense such as yours.
3, 33 -- unfounded claims
I Corintians 13:6 (the love chapter) notes, "Love does not rejoice in evil but rejoices in the truth." Since your vitriole is irrational
4 -- unfounded claim
, arrogant,
5 -- unfounded claim
and evil,
6 -- unfounded claim
and most definitely misguidedly
7 -- unfounded claim
false,
8 -- unfounded claim
you are the hateful one.
9 -- unfounded claim
Also, evolution is nonsense.
10 -- unfounded claim
It is the argument of rebels who masquerade as scientists.
11 -- unfounded claim
Things do not evolve, my friend.
12 -- unfounded claim
As Romans 1:18-19 notes, "The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness,
13, 36 -- unfounded claim (I don't see any wrath of God being revealed from heaven. Do you?), question-begging
since what may be known about God is plain to them,
14 -- unfounded claim (false -- if it were plain, atheists would accept it)
because God has made it plain to them."
15, 35 -- unfounded claim, question-begging
Read on if you are interested in the truth.
16 -- unfounded claim
Furthermore, it is curious that the misguided only attribute what God created to evolution.
17 -- question-begging (God created?)
What about some human activity. I haven't seen many bicycles "evolving" into cars. You know I haven't even seen a Honda Accord "evolve" into a Honda Prelude. Get the point?
18 -- false analogy
Or perhaps your web site evolved. MAybe that is why it is so misguided.
19 -- continuing the false analogy and more question-begging
God's creation is very ordered,
20, 34 -- false claim, question-begging
beautiful, and it is the height of nonsense to think it evolved.
21 -- I think the world's beautiful, so we'll just go with the second unfounded claim
With regard to other "faiths", the only true faith is Christianity.
22 -- asserting a particular faith is "true" faith is an oxymoron, since it is impossible to positively discover the truth or falsehood of any faith
By the way, Judahism is fulfilled in Christianity
23 -- unfounded claim
and Jesus was a Jew. Frankly, Christianity is broader than all other "faiths" combined.
24 -- unfounded claim (what does it mean to be "broader" than another faith?)
I have yet to see someone actually live by the "sacred" book of another "faith"
25 -- Perhaps you slept in on 9/11?
because they don't make sense, and are without power to change a person.
26 -- See # 25
Psalm 119 notes, "I have seen a limit to all perfection, they commandments are exceedingly broad." The analogy is like this, think of it as a funnel.
*Christianity appears narrow, but when you step through the horisons broaden. See Jesus Christ's statements in John 14:6 and John 10:10.
27 -- Analogy to what? I suppose incoherent sentences count
*Other religions are broad but lead to tyranny. Take Hinduism as a case in point if you can bear the unpleasant truth.

As a final point, mankind would not have progressed without Christianity.
28 -- unfounded claim
Frankly, the founders of science is replete with Christians like Isaac Newton. In art, there was Vincent Van Gogh.
29 (I'll count the implicit post hoc here as a fallacy)
I know the truth is hard to accept, especially when you won't,
30 -- question-begging
but I would leave you with God's promise to Abraham in Genesis 12:3 which applies to all beleivers in Christ as well because of Jesus' work on the cross.
31 -- question-begging (prove God exists)
I will be praying that God would contend with your silly mind. Frankly, this web site tells me your life is pretty empty and meaningless.

Goodbye
32 -- unfounded claim (empty and meaningless)

EDIT: I went through, elucidated the fallacies/unfounded claims, and discovered several question-begging fallacies which I proceeded to mark. Up the count to 37.

How far down the front page of the website do you think he got before he stopped reading and fired off his oh-so-enlightened E-mail?

Given that he fires with this
Actually, it is secular humanists who are the irrational bigots.
This statement is where he stopped :This crime called blasphemy was invented by priests, for the purpose of defending doctrines not able to take care of themselves.” - Robert G. Ingersoll.

The rest he does because he glanced at Creationism jargon that was jibberish to him.

He can't even bother spelling Judaism correctly. I don't see how it's worth the time to shred apart his totally useless arguments. . .and I do use the term arguments loosely.

Most of his post is just empty claims, not arguments at all. The only argument against evolution that I could see was his hilariously stupid notion that evolution is supposed to apply to objects which do not reproduce.

You can't have an argument without at least trying to establish sufficient conditions. When I went through and labeled fallacies, I used question-begging very loosely (in the sense that a Complex Question fallacy begs the question -- i.e., assumes as true unestablished claims). This is the same sort of thing I see in Republitard editorials: vacuous claims strung together to look like an argument, but with no logic establishing connections between them.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

As has already been pointed out, it's a terrible written one, with the quote below being the most offensive to my eyes. Honestly...
As a final point, mankind would not have progressed without Christianity.
Because we all know no technological, social, or economic innovations have ever been made in cultures which had nothing to do with Christianity. No, everything...all our progress throughout time is a direct result of christian life and christian values. Praise the Lord!

You know, I can at least show an ounce of respect for someone who comes and tries to argue their case in a semi-coherant manner. But he isn't really arguing a case here. His intent isn't to sway you, just insult and attack you (while waving the Bible in your face about love, no less.). The hypocrisy burns.

Ironically, and you can correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not as well versed, but I thought his argument about bikes to cars actually proved a kind of technological evolution.

The problem is he literally is flying all over. He implies at the end of that particular tirade that evolution is chaos. More precise his bit about bikes into cars is to imply that since bikes aren't leaping into the obvious next step, that means living things can't either.

He has no clue whatsoever of what evolution means and has no clue at any sort of technical growth either.

I still can't believe how the religious can't resist telling others - or more appropriately, themselves - that the non-religious must have "empty and meaningless" lives. What a crock of shit.

Only in the loose linguistic sense where evolution is any form of gradual change. The mechanism of Darwinian evolution requires self-reproduction in order to work. So triumphantly pointing out that it doesn't work in mechanical devices that do not self-reproduce is the kind of laughably stupid argument that only a true ignoramus could make.

Mind you, his idea of evolution is so hopelessly wrong that he seems to think it's some kind of metamorphosis.

Well, since Surlethe already went through and highlight practically every brain failure in the email, I think I shall merely point and laugh at the very notion of non-organic, non reproducing things evoliving. It's pretty much evidence enough to conclude that this creationist tard things evolution happens a la pokemon, like a magical transformation from one distinct from to another distinct form.

Which, of course, makes for some really imaginings of this guy's thought process, such as they are.

I'm curious how he'd defend the notion that secular humanist are irrational bigots, but I know full well he cannot.

That's the thing; they are so cloistered in their little insulated bubbles that they repeat rhetoric designed to rein in the flock. And they don't realize how utterly useless this rhetoric is against people who are not part of the flock in the first place.

When you're part of the flock, and you are afraid of the outside world as they are, then you tell yourself (and you fellow sheep) that people outside of your bubble environment are "empty" because they don't have your faith in them. You also tell them that those evil outside alien people have "meaningless" lives because they don't have the meaning that your faith gives them. The outside people are bad, sad, mean, evil, blahblahblah ... it's an incredibly childish way of looking at the world.

This rhetoric is designed to scare people into staying in the flock, and you can tell someone is simply not very intelligent when he tries to use that rhetoric on people who are not part of the flock, because he has obviously never tried to climb into their heads and imagine what they're thinking.

Well, the least one could do would be to e-mail him a link to this thread, but that would only make him feel like a martyr being persecuted for his faith, given that these types consider criticism to be a test wherein you get more points depending on how far you can jam your fingers into your ears.

It's funny how his little paragraph about other faiths is virtually an ode to the narrowness of his own life experiences. You can tell he's never known members of other faiths at all, and his entire knowledge of them is from TV, movies, and what his pastor tells him.
