I have yet to see someone actually live by the "sacred" book of another "faith" because they don't make sense, and are without power to change a person.
I saw this, and nearly fell out of my chair laughing. Doesn't he realize that the War on Terror disproves him, or has he been living under a rock since 2001?
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

Never mind 2001; he's ignored virtually all of recorded history.

I like the way he thinks his own faith "makes sense" but others don't. You can tell that even as fundies go, this one is pretty far down on the intelligence rankings.

Clearly, he thinks that cars reproduce sexually. I wonder, if a car fucks another car in the exhaust pipe, does it count as sodomy? Or if a Ford exclusively goes out and nails Mitsubishis, does that mean it has the Yellow Fever?

I suppose that brings a new twist to the phrase "Stop, you're flooding it!"

Or two cars hanging out around the gas pump the next day and one bragging "Man, I ruined her shocks last night!"

Good to know. I wasn't really claiming exact (and certainly not biological) evolution, but more in the broad sense anyway. However it's important to know the key differences.

Are we going to get to see your response e-mail? Or, are you not going to dignify him with such an honor?

When I first saw this topic I was excited to have a chance to test my skills and refute this person's arguments, but after I read it was rather disappointed to see that he didn't even have any actual arguments.

Call me somewhat cynical for this, but I don't believe a reponse to be necessary. Since the person who wrote the original e-mail used many fallacious and ill-thought-out arguments, I would consider it highly unlikely that even Mr. Wong taking a howitzer to this person's arguments would really do any good.

From reading his email, I find it unsettling to infer that this person has never seriously questioned or challenged his faith, his beliefs, or even his own point of view. With that in mind, even a completely polite and factual rebuttal would be somewhat like offering to leg race a person in a wheelchair.

I generally don't bother responding to arguments which are so stupid that you can tell the author wouldn't even understand the response.

Exactly. The phrase "pearls before swine" comes to mind.

I actually took him to mean something more stupid than that. He seems to be trying to show that created things cannot evolve, so created life cannot evolve either. And he defines all life as having been created. . .

It also betrays his misunderstanding of evolution in that he clearly thinks it means that an individual organism supposedly evolves and hence reproduction is not necessary (i.e. in the bicycle analogy, it would be the bicycle itself that is expected to evolve into a car).

Are you going to reply to that disjointed gibberish, Mr. Wong? I greatly enjoyed reading the hatemail along with your responses on creationtheory, though I can see the difficulty in responding in a meaningul and coherent manner to this one.

Some of them may feel that way deep down, but it's hard to say. The overwhelming impression when you deal with the really devout believer is that he honestly feels sorry for all of these people who don't have what he thinks he has. After all, he's got a First Class Ticket On Afterlife Airlines, while you threw away your chance at first class seating by pissing off the ticket agent with all of your cavorting around and pot smoking and premarital sex. So you may be laughing now, but you'll be sorry when you show up at the Boarding Call and you're told that they lost your reservation. So you're clearly an idiot for not apologizing to the ticket agent and begging for your seat assignment, and he feels sorry for you because he knows you'll be booted off the plane.

Of course, it doesn't occur to them that this entire intellectual framework has a foundation of thin air. There might be no Afterlife Airlines, or they could have gone to the wrong ticket desk, or maybe it turns out that the whole airport is a sham and they should be waiting on the riverbanks of the River Styx with coins on their eyes for the boatman.

I love how he apparently thinks that secular humanists accept the Bible as true, but just have never heard the Good News before. It's like he got his conception of non-Christians entirely from reading Chick tracts.

Well, according to Buddhism, secular humanists are also enlightened, it's just that they don't REALIZE they're enlightened, so they'll come back to the airport when they die instead of leaving for good into the world outside.

As sad as this sounds some of the letters to my local newspaper consists of the same type of arguments and the same level of stupidity. Quote the Bible as if it was assumed to be correct as opposed to showing its correct, stating your opinion as if it had some validity purely because its your opinion and confusing real life evolution with the children's cartoon pokemon.

And I am not kidding about the last one. Someone actually thought that when one becomes resistant to antibiotics evolution says you have "evolved" into a new species. Since you haven't evolution is bullshit. This is no different from Pikachu gaining a new attack and becoming Raichu.

My intuition on this would be that it is some teenager troll, rather than a actual fundy nutbag. Generaly, fundies are more passive-aggressive in their initial attacks rather than outright attacks, such as this.

It doesn't have to be. When it comes to the internet, it's easy for normally mild mannered fundie to turn into an agressive troll.

That funnel analogy is pretty stupid. I mean you could easily turn that around and say that christianity narrows rather than broadens -- isn't that normally how people use funnels? Talk about topsy-turvy thinking.

You obviously haven't dealt with enough fundies. They hate people like me. Sure, they say shit like "hate the sin, not the sinner" but that's just self-deluding bullshit. In reality, they are full of hate for people who don't get with their program. They think we're dangerous and should be silenced. Even Jesus himself in their New Testament tells them that people like me, who not only say these things but try to teach them to others (including children), deserve the worst kind of suffering.

Doubtful you'll get much of a response. Judging from the email he's a hit and run style of troll. He'll probably forget this place even exists in a day or two if he hasn't already.
