It's not a vendetta, I'm just teasing and making fun of you. You make it too easy sometimes. And others "kick it down" because it's such an easy thing to make fun of. It only goes back and forth like this because you never let it slide.
Shinova wrote:It'd be nice if there were a usergroup for this kind of stuff so I don't have to put up with the rest of you guys.
That wouldn't be very effective, because the simple fact seems to be that only a handful of people on the board regularly play visual novels: the only ones I can name off the top of my head are you and Beowulf.

That's cause you often come off as some sort of close-minded, egotistical, holier-than-thou bigot. You're like one of those people whom others can't tell if they're joking or being serious.

....

A bigot because I make fun of you over video game pornography.

Yeah...

I think the reason that you can't tell when I'm joking or being serious is because you're an idiot.

So, how much does this game retail for, and convince us why we should spend that much on it? :P

What? I don't play porno games! :P Really, although I appear to know alot about them, all I've seen is the anime based off of them. I've never actually played any.

But I bet it still involved relatively petty and insignificant junk rather than anything major in real life, doesn't it?

Taking the oppertunity to pont out when you're being a tremendous spaz is not bigotry, but I guess that counts as antagonism when you don't have any real rivals inside of your bubble.

I heard about the translation patch last night and looked around the japanese yahoo auctions to buy a legit second hand copy since it is out of print.. holy crap it is going to $200+! If Type Moon re releases the game I'll snap up a legit copy asap so the money will go to them instead of of greedy collecters but until then.. yarr.

So far it has been an interesting experience, this is the first visual novel I've actually played although I started but didn't get very far into the Kinetic novel Planetarium. I've put a good 3 hours into the game and I'm barely a third through the Arcueid True Ending, this is gonna take a while. So far I find Shiki alot less annoying then in the anime and I appreciate how fleshed out all the characters and situations are but at times all the reading gets damn tedious and I have to take constant quick breaks.

I think some people have overhyped the game a bit, I'm enjoying myself but I'm not feeling the urge to stay up all night and skip tomorrow's classes in order to finish it.

I own the two most recent TYPE-MOON eroge. Not that I've ever got up to anything resembling a porno scene. Seriously the Japanese in those games is really difficult. Even some of the Japanese people I talked to had a hard time translating sentences (I didn't let them know where I'd gotten where said sentences were from of course  )

IIRC, the original Tsukihime was sold as a doujin game at Comike, with a very low print run, explaining why the cost can get so high, and why so few are ever auctioned. Really, with this game, you may as well just pirate it, and then use the cash you saved to buy a stack of Tsukihime merchandise. It's not like the creators are being supported by you purchasing a 2nd hand copy anyway, as mizuno has already mentioned.

I've played Phoenix Wright and I've also heard it compared to a book (in terms of its linear nature). I'd hesitate to say it's exactly the same as a visual novel...maybe a Choose Your own Adventure?

Own and beat Phoenix Wright completely.

As have I and my best description of it is an interactive novel. I felt like I was playing a manga, except I had to fill in bits correctly.

I'd disagree, since the game is essentially linear.

In a CYA you get eaten by a monster or something if you choose "incorrectly." So it's like a CYA with only one right path and a bunch of dead ends.

(Hey, I never said it was a perfect comparison.)

You missed two Js.

Ultimately, the best thing about Tsukihime is Melty Blood. As Admiral Valdemar has noted, rocket powered cats are legendary. Though Neko Arc Chaos fucks Neko Arc's shit up, yo.

That said, it might be interesting to see what exactly happens; I was
planning to buy the anime myself, but I keep on getting warned off it by fans. I'm more of a Fate/stay night fan though. Of course, by the time I get to see Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel it will be four million years in the future.

Probably.

Tsukihime has about 3500 pages of text, and Fate/Stay Night is supposedly at least twice as long as that.

Goodness sakes.

The Tsukihime anime is probably decent for someone who has no knowledge about the original material. What got fans in a bunch was that the original just had so much more content and fleshing-out over the anime. Meh, with only 13 episodes and a barely competent staff, it was to be expected.

FSN anime, on the other hand, I hear is quite good.

I'll have to chime in on Space Cadet's POV too.

Hell I remember the time I brought up going through shit I had packed away when I was in HIGH SCHOOL, and finding a ton of unlabled VHS tapes, and 3.5 floppy disks. Turned out to be my whole fansub collection including two tapes of Creme Lemon (the mojority of the tapes were, riding bean, Harlok, Fist of the Northstar, Char's Counter Attack, Gall Force, D. and Ako.) Spanky accused me of being into Kiddy Porn. The 15 3.5's contained a bunch of my old homework assignments, some RPG utilitys I had coded my self, and oh yeah 3 disks of p0rn, including one of the most vile Robotech stuff (I can't beleive I hated minmei that much)

THe FSN anime kinda dies in the last couple episodes. It's as if they didn't realize how much needed to go into the ending.

It also scrunches a lot of information from the game. There's a bunch of game characters and background information you never really get to hear about or even see. Plus it only really touches on the Fate scenario, with a bit of mixing from Heavens Feel and Unlimited Blade Works. Though it largely ignores the last two. :(
