It's the quirky titles that are all the fun for DS.

I just got Phoenix Wright 2. It's the best price edition, so it has english language option. 8)

The TI-89 was banned at my university, we were only allowed to have the TI-85 & 86.

It was banned in a lot of classes here, too, so I had a scientific (and non-RPN) HP as backup.

I remember playing Drug Wars and Tetris on TI-83 in high school.

There was also that stupid penguin SMB-esque platformer, but that sucked so much that I deleted it.

I just picked up both Golden Sun games for my GBA.

Very cool. Kind of a classic SNES-era RPG, with some Zelda-style puzzlework thrown in.

But you really need to play them in order. But, if you got another GBA/DS, you can actually transfer information from the first game to the second(and if you don't, you can find some passwords on GameFAQs). Also, if you have two copies, you can actually have your parties fight head-to-head.

I have to agree, the Golden Sun series is one of my favorites on the GBA.

However, you cannot transfer information in GBA games by way of the DS, at least not by link cable. The DS has no link cable slot and the DS wireless functions do not work for multiplayer GBA games. You probably know that, it's just clarification for the folks at home.

Of course, passwords can also be used to send information from the first Golden Sun over to the second (The Lost Age.) This can be done with just one handheld, and the species of console doesn't matter, as you're just keying in characters on the screen.

But yes, Golden Sun is amazing. The music and graphics still blow my mind. In particular, tracks like Venus Lighthouse and the title theme are unmatched on handhelds and outdo many console soundtracks. And who didn't jawdrop the first time they summoned Judgment?

Your summary is fairly accurate, it's a Zelda style game in its dungeon and town mechanics, but battles and the overworld are a clear homage to Final Fantasy.

All told, it and pokemon are easily my favorite GBA games.

I have a DS Lite, I'm currently playing Advance Wars DS (majority of the time), New Super Mario Bros. and Metroid Prime Hunters. Waiting untill I've made my way mostly through those before I get anymore, but I'm interested in getting Starfox Command. Has anybody here played Starfox Command and want to give their thoughts on it?

Also has anyone ever played the GBA only Metal Slug? And if so how is it?

Lately, I've been playing Tetris DS (it's a little easier to get a high score than in the original, but the way I have to hold the system make my entire hands numb, and The New Super Mario Bros. (does a great job of capturing the spirit of the NES and SNES-era games without seeming like a shameless nostalgia trip, but there's nothing to do once you've gotten all the coins and don't have another player).

StarFox Command was discussed earlier in the thread and came off as recommended.

Also, do you happen to play Hunters online? Because I can't stand it, it's a frustrating Imperialist and Trace bonanza.

I got me a DS Lite and a GBA SP (which was...complimentary from Best Buy...and no, I didn't steal it). Right now I've been addicted to Clubhouse Games and Uno/Skip-Bo. I've also been playing through Phantasy Star again.

Anybody have any thoughts on Star Trek: Tactical Assault? I was watching the demo video and it was most unimpressive. Just scene after scene of ships shooting each other. Is there any plot?

From previews: There are two campaigns, Federation and Klingon, with 30 odd missions apiece, and there's apparently some depth as to how you approach them, with plot branching and different outcomes. You'll largely be doing TOS type stuff. Poking your nose in places, talking to people, and having some starship fights. The fights are apparently fairly slow paced and thinky, letting you target different bits of enemy ships, disabling them, and hailing them and talking to them (with choices about how you want to approach them).

There's a bit of an RPG mechanic as well, you earn points with which to promote your crew, upgrading your ships performance in whatever area they run (Tactical officer for more powerful weapons, helmsman for higher manoeuverability, etc).

Only a couple of reviews around so far. Too early to call whether it's going to be any good or not.

I have to admit, I'm kind of surprised that there's so many Pokémon fans here. ^^;; I knew SAMAS is one, or was one back in the old days of the fandom, but I wasn't aware there were others here.
My husband and I are both pokemon fans as well! He won't stop talking about the new games, and we have a while before they hit the USA :?

We both own a DS. He is playing POkemon Dungeon and I am playing Harvest Moon right now. I also have Animal Crossing, Mr driller, and mario kart...and others I can't think of at the moment.

Rumor has it Diamond and Pearl will hit in February or March.

Pokemon Dungeon is cool if you're into Rogue-likes. Otherwise, I can see it getting boring fast.

I've heard good things about Pokemon Ranger, although I haven't played it myself.

My copy of Cooking Mama for the DS recently arrived for Christmas.

That makes me very happy. :)

Aww, poor Stark... :(

DPDP brought his copy over yesterday. I must admit that it's not as...objectionable as I previously considered it.

I have that, actually learned a thing or two about cooking (i.e. how to go about making certain dishes). It's quite fun.

I'd love to know where you heard that rumour. I haven't heard any serious speculation on the game's arrival in English until August or September of next year.

Given that there are a number of fans here, I feel tempted to plug the fact that I'm the webmaster of bulbagarden.net, a major Pokémon fansite with a significant number of users at a university age or above (most of the staff being university graduates of some description), and with fairly mature discussion, considering the content. I'd expect most of you would be casual fans at most, but please, feel free to drop in anytime. ^^;

To be honest, you may as well just buy the game in Japanese now and be done with it. It's not all that difficult to understand, and you'll enjoy having access to the various glitches in the game for breeding purposes, amongst other things.

I have far too many games to get as is. Same reason I'm waiting for Phoenix Wright 2 to come out domestically, despite the Japanese rerelease having English available on it.
