But remember what Mr. Tricker said to Warren and Colvin in Infiltrator, he said everything was backed up anyway. They didn't have any physical components (bar the arm if you can include it but I don't think it is mentioned) so all they had to do was start up somewhere else.
The DoD wanted this program badly and they were already drawing up plans for automated factories in Texas I think or at least Serena Burns was helping them to, proof that there are different timelines since she was essentially "giving birth" to Skynet.

While the S. M. Stirling books don't fit in to T3 continuity, they could probably still be used for tech analysis and information on the future war. Certainly many theories presented in the books are interesting, such as the theory on why the plasma guns are so advanced whilest everything else is bog-standard. I also like to think of the T2 production drawings as relevant, as they fill in a lot of spots in Skynet's army, and were only cut to keep the movie down to 2 hours.

Another gripe about the existance of T3 is that at then end of the novelisation of T2 John Became a US Senator. They took you to the future and showed the war didn't happen.
How many bites at the cherry is Skynet gonne be given? Maybe we'll find out in T500 when it turns out that Skynet was beatten coz the stupid fucking thing had send half it's standing army back in time.

That doesn't make any sense anyway. The terminators wore human skin for disguise so why would Skynet make them all look alike?Sea Skimmer wrote:Major character in the books by S. M. Stirling. Also, I really doubt all of Dyson's research was destroyed. If it was stored on servers, all of it was probably backed up off-site just like any other corporation worth its grain...SylasGaunt wrote:Personally I think it's fairly easy for T3 to get itself into continuity simply because while yes the arm and chip Cyberdyne had were destroyed there is still the matter of that arm Arnold left in the gear in T2.
According to T2: Infiltrator time is a finnicky thing and keeps trying to return to it's original course (or closesty possible match), i.e. events keep shifting so that SkyNet gets built anyway and Connor kicks the hell out of it.

A different look would require alterations to the chassis and the tissue covering it as well. Skynet presumably finds it more efficient to mass-produce one model, especially since it also seems to use them without the flesh covering as infantry. The theory may have been that the isolated bands of refugees that infiltrators hunt down would be unlikely to survive in order to describe an infiltrator's appearance.Galvatron wrote:That doesn't make any sense anyway. By the way, is there any statement on what gives the appearance of musculature under the fake skin?
I always thought that there was at least some musle under the skin. As a theory it works better when you look at Arnold in the first film. He was much much larger in mass in general as well as in relation to the endoskeleton. In T2 and what I've seen of T3 that's nost so much the case anymore.beyond hope wrote:

I also got the impression from the first movie that the biological material of the terminators didn't last very long, a few days before it started to break down and rot. In that I could be mistaken because the scene where the guy asks him about the dead cat could just as easily been set up by the damage the terminator took in the crash.
I just didn't by the part in T2 where Arnold said the bullet wounds he took in the mall would heal up. They wouldn't just heal up on a person so what exactly is keeping the biological part of the terminator going? There's some room for internal organs (not that we've seen any) but they don't eat, sleep or elimate waste that we know off so I've always thought the "human" part of the terminator was very temporary. Which is another good reason to develope the T 1000.

There were Terminators with a different appearance, if Kyle's dream imagery in the first movie is reliable. The Terminator that infiltrated the resistance bunker wasn't an Arnold.beyond hope wrote:A different look would require alterations to the chassis and the tissue covering it as well. This doesn't necessarily make Stirling's book inconsistent, though. She only had one facility to make Terminators in, whereas Skynet could presumably churn different looks out of different factories. The I-950 also started using a number of cosmetic techniques to alter her Terminators so that the resemblence wasn't obvious.

All series 101 units look alike. There are over a hundred different T-800 series that where made.Galvatron wrote:That doesn't make any sense anyway. Yep, it was Franco Columbu, Arnold's old body building buddy (and two time Mr. Olympia '76, '81). He's about 5'3" tall so terminators can come in different sizes.Joe Momma wrote:
