I'm not sure that this number can be assumed. We see, or hear mentioned, no more than twenty Executor-class command ships throughout the entire course of the canon, to my knowledge. Now, I don't doubt that the Empire could have constructed that many, but there is little evidence to indicate that they actually did. Perhaps the ship class was too new to enter wide usage before the collapse of the Empire, or a few Grand Admirals realized that it might be more cost-effective to invest in smaller warships, and redirected priority from the program. Whatever the reason, I don't see there being, at absolute most, more than 50 Executor-class vessels in action, ever.Surlethe wrote:Hmm. If you want a very rough estimate of the number of military ships in the Empire, perhaps you could get a rough estimate this way: we know there are maybe 25,000 ISDs, and, say, 350 Executor-class vessels.

My mistake -- I incorrectly remembered Han's "lots of command ships" as "hundreds of command ships". I suppose this maximalist thinking is corrupting my brain. However, even correcting for 50 instead of 350 still yields some 5e15 ships in the Empire.Noble Ire wrote:I'm not sure that this number can be assumed. A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

Regardless of how many Executor-type ships there are, the point is that even one can squash the Feds. The 25,000 ISDs, unspecified (but probably massive) number of Victory-class SDs, Carrack crusers, and asorted other vessels (Strike-class cruisers, dreadnoughts) only adds to that. I ralize this point has already been made, but I'm a fanatic Warsie.
Conversion Table:
2000 Mockingbirds = 2 Kilomockingbirds
Basic Unit of Laryngitis = 1 Hoarsepower
453.6 Graham Crackers = 1 Pound Cake
1 Kilogram of Falling Figs - 1 Fig Newton
Time Between Slipping on a Banana Peel and Smacking the Pavement = 1 Bananosecond
Half of a Large Intestine = 1 Semicolon

Well, you're in the right place, that's for sure.Master_Baerne wrote:Regardless of how many Executor-type ships there are, the point is that even one can squash the Feds.
