What's sapping my interest is it seems not to be such a big deal without the RP. But I don't think starting an RP now's a good idea, too much work.
Also the meson blaster thing is a chore. Even though B5 was unbalanced, everybody was kind of different and the RP held it together from the start. This is like going back to just playing vanilla SE:IV because there's only one or two correct strategies.

Personally, I've submitted every turn so far, but I'm certainly feeling kind of apathetic about this game.
Well, I for one am pretty excited about seeing how things shake out in SE V, but I guess people don't really share that sentiment. Should we restart with the Balance Mod and Patch 1.17, and perhaps a large galaxy so we don't start out right next to each other?

Starting all over would be kind of a bitch, it took 20 days to get this far and I'm sure some people would drop out. Large galaxy would just make it more boring, longer until people made contact with one another.
Why not keep going until a mod's ready and start out with a mod if we're really bored. Maybe later, for people who are really into it and have the time, we could make a game with 24 hour turns, maybe just four players or so.
I think once a PBW for SEV comes out that'd be a big improvement for one thing. We'll play on a little, consider this more of a practice game IMO? There's a lot of bugs that have hindered us, as well as checking mail being so clumsy for turn related matters. Particularly for you, Art.
Okay, we'll keep going. It's good, because I wanted to keep going, but I was wondering whether people were ready to call it quits or not. Next turn still due on Thursday.

I'm glad to continue playing. Though I'm getting real pissy about this planet I can't seem to take over. Damn you Sethulkra Clan!
On another note; sneaky steam patched me to 1.17, so... I'll be submitting that. I'm sure it'll work.
Regarding people who keep forgetting. Do you guys need an IM/email/PM harassment? The turns don't take that long, and if a little popup window saying "DO YOUR GODDAMN TURN" is all that it takes to remind you, I'm more than willing to oblige.
Turns out that I will be in town tomorrow, after all. So we'll execute tomorrow at normal time.

Things are going well with the Nagamaroon Empire, even though we're short 9 colony ships. Several of the ringleaders responsible have been executed for allowing their employees too many cigarette breaks. We've seized four star systems worth of territory, although one is a useless nebula system, and are poised to take another two. Our first warships have been produced, Gartok class carriers, and fighters patrol the vulnerable warp points hunting for alien craft.
It's actually pretty exciting, since I've got such a good starting place.
My starting place is terrible, and I'm having the same problem as in the Adamant game, lots of colony ships going forth and finding jack crap in terms of colonizable planets. The one bright spot is that I can turtle well, with only one home system that is only accessible via one warp point.

I've only found one green planet, and even though it's 80% minerals I'm stuffing it full of research centers. It's a good thing I picked rock, or I would barely have any planets at all.
It'll be a bitch to conquer, especially with fighters and fog of war. Break into a system, you're flying blind, and meanwhile they've got time to build a lot of fighters. If the system's fully colonized, your fleet could be facing another 50-100 fighters easily. That's assuming breaking through's even possible if someone stacks 1000 fighters on a warp point. That many fighters could easily defeat 200 ships, try it yourself. If they haven't fixed the point defense bug yet, fighters will walk all over ships. And missiles might be underrated. Now that the ordinance bug's fixed, and point defense cannons may not be, missiles might be powerful. With small fast ships you could stay out of range of behemoths, and combined with fighters easily overwhelm point defense.
I'm just worried about cloak. What's the tech tree to research to get anti-cloak sensors and how far up the tech tree is scattering armor?
You've obviously never had someone sacrifice 100 uncloaked minesweepers, then go through with a cloaked fleet .
Scattering armor is cloak level 1.2, just enough to get past normal sensors. And the armor is really low level in SE:IV, and I don't know where it is in SE:V. I might just get one or two levels of a better sensor just in case, since everybody'll have scattering armor even if cloaking devices are high up.

Leftovers might not but hangovers might. And I'm assuming you do not want to play B5 if you are having family over for thanksgiving on the same day as thanksgiving, but actually I'm the wrong guy to ask since I rarely celebrate any holidays.
Anyway my password collection is nearly complete for B5, I've got EA's, Corporates, Centauri, Shadows, can get the Brakiri, just need the Dilgar, Minbari and Vorlons!
Wait goddamn, you fucking Americans, thanksgiving on a Thursday. That's so fucking stupid, you have to have it on a Monday, so it's a long weekend! What's the point of having it on a Thursday crazy yanks.
Most everyone takes friday off, thus making a nice 4 day weekend; schools often close on Wednesday, and people who work usually go home early. So, its more like a 4 and a half day weekend.
I'm just waiting until I get the all-clear before processing the turn.
By the way, here's a dumb question: It's been mentioned that fighters make the best planetary invaders, but how do you get them to invade? Load them as cargo in a troop ship? Set them to capture planet?
