Leave it to the Remnant to save the NRs ass. The irony would be stronger than a death star.

They will destroy the New Republic. They will not destroy the Galaxy. The Chiss are too powerful, even for the Yuuzhan Vong.

I dont think the Vong will take over the galaxy at all. Just like the NR since the realative begining of the invasion had its internal problems the Vong seem to be begining thier own internal problems. In the Enemy Lines Duology we see the apparent corruption of the shaper and priest sect of Vong society. The commader of the Vong armies (Tsavong Lah) seems to have some more SW galaxy characteristics, it seems he misses his father and it can and will effect his judgment. Jaina Solo now has an upperhand on the Vong concious mind since most Vong belive the trickster goddes Yun-Harla is with her. And maby Nom Anor will die soon since he should have died a long time ago

But, the NR is nearly dead anyway. It has no seat of government, and only the VERY weak Advisory Council seems to be trying to gather any power. I would be VERY surprised if the NR was able to sort out its differences and remain in power for long. They don't seem to have the leader, the method, or the ability to stop their infighting. I don't think the Yuuzhan Vong can defeat the Chiss, but I think they can destroy the NR with another few pushes.

The New Republic may be dead, but the majority of the galaxy's industrial strenght still remains, and the output of Kuat Drive Yards alone could probably kick the Vong's sorry buts back out of the galaxy.
Just as a thought, wouldn't it be horribly ironic if the something like the Trade Federations mass produced droid armies ended up being the downfall of the Yuuzhan Vong?

I admit Supreme Commannder Gilad Pellaeon, is the best Tacticans and Strategists the Imperial Remant has.(And one of the best in the Galaxy)Also, the Empire lacking the Politicial Rubish the New Republic was accustomed too their War shall be swift. And the Imperial Citizenery shall support the war unlike the undecisive New Republic. So as stated earlier it'll be so ironic it may even be amusing. I saw for one of the future book Covers There is an ISD Backside and Imperial Emblen , good sigh I think. :D

Actually, much of the Industry of the galaxy has already been wiped out. Fondor is gone. Coruscant is gone. Most of the Core worlds are in imminent jeopardy, including Corellia, Bothawui (not, technically, a Core World), and many of the planets on the Mid Rim have been devastated. If you look at the map (inaccurate, but still), you can see how much the YV have taken over. You can also see that the Core Worlds are threatened, and you can see how much danger the other worlds are in because they are fragmented. The only powers left in the Galaxy are the Remnant and the Chiss. The New Republic is already dead. BTW, the Jedi are also somewhat of a power. It will be interesting to see who the majority of the NR fleet follows.

It would be funny if the TF armies were resurrected and defeated the Yuuzhan Vong. It would be a kind of ultimate swords-to-plowshares moment.

The Remnant is pretty much irrelevant in this. They have but one shipyard left which is inadequate for keeping their capital ships in tip top shape never mind their fighter squadrons. Unless there has been a dramatic upswing in their fortunes between VOTF and now they cannot hope to win a full scale war against the Vong, they could swing battles the way of the NR with their added ships however.

The Chiss are an unknown commodity, the entire unknown regions is, VOTF did not give us anywhere near enough info to come up with an even close to accurate estimate of their fleet strength.

My guess--
Galactic industry will rally to the Imperial Remnant, because of the essence of the Galactic Empire: Stability, strength, safety, and military power. Much of what remains will abandon the NR, which has proven itself incompetent to defend the people, and join the Empire. With this newfound strength, the Empire will kick the the YV to the curb and do a tap-dance on their throat.

While this is going on, the reduced pressure on the NR will allow it to stabilize and recover to a point, and join the Galactic Empire in driving the YV out of the galaxy. As the war ends, we have two militarized superpowers with a history of violence and opposing theories on government. Time for a cold war :)

Crazy_Vasey, it may only be Yaga Minor one Shipyard Planet but they are at least a few Dozens of Shipyards on the planet, remember the Empire accomdated thousands of ships. And I agree with the Full Scale War Assesment with the New Repubic's Supprt they could push back the Invaders, and Chiss Weaponary & Tactics are far Superior if they could be brought in the war the Yuzzhan Vong would be smashed.

The Chiss resources are spectacular. They are by far the most powerful of the remaining non-YV groups that are left. Their action or inaction is probably what will determine the fate of the Galaxy.

Didn't now the old admiral Ackbar come up with an idea for a new war strategy?

I believe somehow The Remnant and New Republic will join togather forming a new stronger government afterwards. Remant leaders wants plenty of ships to protect themselves and member worlds and with their influence there wont be a slow government. It will probably be little military guided in order to make quick decisions.

The Chiss should help the NR $ the Remanment on the Condition that they get to have a Chiss as the Head of State. With the help of the Chiss the NR & the Remainment will have minor trouble beeting the YV back.

How COOL would it be to have a Chiss in charge of the Galaxy  :P :D
