Star Wars vs Star Trek "The Great Escape" part 1

The Situation

We substitute the German guards with Imperial Stormtroopers. the camp is the same though the stormies would have their 'normal' equiptment. How many men would be able to get through the tunnel before getting caught? Now the Tunnel will get built regardless. The plan was to get 250 out.

Remember to post an explaination to your vote, please. thank you

The Stormies have better equipment to monitor the movement of people and a large number trying to get through the tunnel would attract attention rather quickly...figure somewhere around 50 do get out but I'd bet on the number being lower rather than higher.

i see the storm troops being a little disoriented in the unfamilliar situation of a compleete lack of technology and will need many hours to even become aware of any thing unusual.
the storm troops will not know what is normal untill the escape is well underway.

i say this is an advantage to the very well planned escape and prisoners will be able to escape with ease once in their tunnel and on there way out.

it is night and dark and the troops will be watching the camp and not the woods where the escape is ocurring.

the escape will run like clockwork
my score for the prisoners is 250 or more escape.

with that in mind i may reduce the number of escapees only if the gaurds are watching the woods. The tunnel came up twenty feet short of the trees making the escape more tricky.only for the short dash into the shelter of the trees. The germans did not have night vision they only had spotlights, visual scanning, and guns.

If its stormtroopers....

I think that a small handful might make it out the tunnel before the Stormies find out about the tunnel....personally I think they are more likely to find out by going into the huts to kill everyone than by watching the woods.
After all, I dont think Palpantine and Co. ever signed off on the Geoneva Convention and "Prisoner Bowling" (mostly with e-webs) would probably be considered an off duty amusment for the guards....

once the escape is over(the guards end it) the guards will play no part in the recapture of the prisoners. So the only importaint thing is how many would these new guards allow to escape.

Zero. The Imperials would easily detected it, but allow the prisoners to build it anyway to keep them quite and busy. When they opened it up they'd find a half dozen E-11's facing them held by amused Stormtroopers.

Something like that happened at Fort Mifflin near Philadelphia during the civil war.

the point is that they don't know about the tunnel. they have been swapt in on the night of the escape. So the question is with Imperial Stormtroopers instead of the Lufwaffa guards how many would escape before the Imp's notice the tunnel?

The Perimeter Gaurd that would be patrolling would have Thermal and holoimaging to see folks in the dark.

The MAJORITY of the Guards are checking the Camp, there is always a perimater patrol, that's what caught the break out in RL, the Stormies would spot it sooner.

I really wouldn't want to trying to slip under the wire if the Kruats had nightvision goggles on the perimiter group. From the EU info we know that the Stormtrooper sensors > Nightvision+HBS

The Tunnel is deep enough to not be seen by such methods.
