Pfft, I was considered something to avoid when I had those for that exact penchant. Ah, the laughter and fear I inspired....I miss those days.

If that's so, how is she blaisely pulled from the USS Stupid Name's Computer, and put onto a chip that can interface with MC's suit? Plus, if it's digital you can copy it as many times as you please with no degradation of data.

Just destroy Cortrana v1.213 and when you get back to pick up your next ship, you'll find Cortrana v2.11 installed.

I'm not talking about dual weilding, I'm talking about the hard limit of only carrying two weapons at once.

And on the health issue, the only games that seem to stray out of regenerative health these days are either ones like Prey, which are ancient designs, or ones that simply kill you for being shot like Ostfront.

Every single Source game....
Unreal Tournament...

Oh, you meant games not based on anything old, innovative games...

I think the point is that Cortana represents a larger proportion of Earth's warfighting capacity than the Pillar of Autumn or her crew. The AIs are rare and difficult to reproduce.

1) "Equipment" is the wrong word. Cortana actually holds a rank in the UNSC, I believe; she is not part of the ordinary chain of command, but she can issue orders to Marines. If you had a hyperintelligent soldier with access to classified data in your squad, would you kill him the first time you go up against an enemy, or try to keep him safe?

2) AIs in the Haloverse are HARD to create. Copying, as far as I can tell, merely leads to the AIs degrading more quickly - and the 'smart' AIs are limited to a seven-year lifespan anyway.

3) Cortana possessed data that Earth NEEDED about the Covenant...destroying her would mean the destruction of that data as well.

Of course, capture is worse than destruction, but to Keyes, both options were unacceptable. Hence, Master Chief being told to report immediately to the bridge to get Cortana for safekeeping.

Use of a maximum of two weapons was done by Oni.

This doesn't make sense. Cortana might be based on some magic crystal plot device to make her irreplaceable, but the data she has access to is just data. Why ridiculous contrivance did they come up with? 'AI data'? Crystal HDDs? She's just selfish?

If I remember correctly, the Pillar of Autumn made some sensor readings of the assault on Reach that it was vital for UNSC command to receive...and yes, they could have separated the data from her, but what's the point? They couldn't transmit it to Earth anyway, and a chip containing both her and the data is just as small as a chip with just the data.

Bullshit. I bet that a chip containing just tech specs on the Covenant would be a shitload less energy consuming and most likely smaller in volume than a chip containing a goddamn fucking sentient battle AI, full archives of human achievements (she is a fucking encyclopedia, no?) and all the rest...

My point is that that has nothing to do with Cortana's sensitivity. You mentioned it along with other reasons she shouldn't be captured or destroyed, but 'she saw some stuff' isn't a valid reason.

Oh, I'm sorry. The problem of carrying a once-cubic-centimeter cube was so insurmountable that they should have left the priceless AI behind...

Err, isn't the Cortana chip a magic rock that makes her super-AI possible? Ie, it's a special artefact that 'contains' Cortana, not just an SD card with a copy of her.

No, since in Halo 2 she can transmit herself into other systems just by he chief touching them, she doesn't need that data disc any more. That's an ordinary UNSC data disc.

The problem is that Cortana, and AIs like her, are extremely rare and hard to produce. The only thing on the Pillar of Autumn that's rarer is the Chief.
