Those two games, Halflife 2 and Unreal Tournament (2k4 at the moment for me) are both blessed with active modding communities that add an awful lot of replay value to the game. I've been messing around with unreal's mods, finding the playership kinda low, and having the same issue with HL2 mods with the exception of Dystopia and CS. Dys is okay and CS has lost it's appeal over the years, but where's all the exciting modwork being done? Are there any active FPS mods that don't charge, or have nearly all of them moved to the steam pay-for-play micropayment model?
I'm a big fan of adrenaline rush games, and shooters usually take the cake. But I'm not seeing many cool, active mods. Anyone here play these games, or would be interested in getting in on some action were we to set it up?
Conversely, if you have a new product or something to recommend, I'd be interested. Always looking for the next fix.
