Pure Star Trek forum
I know, I know, there are plenty of fourms already.
But once the Nemesis spoiler forum is deleted, would it be possible to add a Pure Star Trek forum in it's place?
There's already a spot for Star Wars discussion, so any possible ST discussion, such as "Was DS9 more 'real' then TNG or Voy?" get put in here, even if they don't directly relate to the VS. forum topic.
Not an urgent action, but still, once Nemesis has been out long enough.......

I don't see why not. Alyeska's modship of the ST: Nemesis forum could be transplanted along with it.

There's been a couple of half-assed ST thread ideas I was bouncing around, but I wasn't sure where to put them. I'd find a pure ST thread useful.
It's not bad conceptually either IMO since the SD.N does do rather detailed analyses of Trek as well as Wars.

::gets a sense of déjà vu::
Wong and the rest of us already discussed this. He mentioned that the next version of phpBB will include subforums... In short, the idea is up in the air for now.

So, the moderators are discussing it as a possibility, and Mike is considering it. Since Mike is the ONLY one who can determine whether or not to add a forum (or a sub-forum, or whatever) it is his decision, and he is already thinking about it.

This really should have been a poll.
There's a problem with creating a pure trek fourm in that it might serve to attract Trekkies here. Unfortunately this is not desirable because the average rabid trekkie these days is about as intelligent as a doorstop.

It's not my place in life to make people happy. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to watch me slaughter cows you hold sacred. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to have your basic assumptions challenged. If you want bunnies in light, talk to someone else.

That depends on how you define 'Trekkie'--if you mean someone who thinks the Federation can stand up to the Empire, then that person is a moron by definition. If OTOH you mean someone that simply enjoys ST, then there are quite a few intellignet one here.Darth Pounder wrote:Theres no sport in destroying the intelectually incapable. Doesn't anyone think that a forum such as that would be a flameground for rabid warsies?

I mean the former. The other normal trekies here like Alyeska seem reasonably smart.Darth Servo wrote:That depends on how you define 'Trekkie'--if you mean someone who thinks the Federation can stand up to the Empire, then that person is a moron by definition. Not if I was the mod of that forum.Gandalf wrote:Doesn't anyone think that a forum such as that would be a flameground for rabid warsies?
As to the topic at hand. There are enough Pure ST related threads that there really should be a pure ST forum. Given the number of ST threads in the ST vs SW forum, the Other Scifi forum, and now all the threads in the Nemesis forum there really should be a thread for people to talk about ST only. I am going to continue my indept analysis of the technology and tactics from Nemesis, and its likely this will continue after the forum likely disapears. I would prefer to place it in an enviroment were some people won't automatically jump in with references to "sucking ass cause the Empire owns it". The SW forum is remarkably clear of other scifi mentions. Given the nature of the sight, a pure ST forum is diserable.

Well, your not going to get an argument from me in regards to that. Might also want to consider Chris O'Farrell or The Darkling as well. Hell, maybe all three of us could mod such a forum.Vympel wrote:I don't see why not. Alyeska's modship of the ST: Nemesis forum could be transplanted along with it.
