Space Empires V PBEM game

What is the rule with technology trading. If it's allowed I'm going to look for every possible way to get medium hull construction 4, which I need for my ultimate planTM and that means giving somebody else fighters five as a trade. Which is fucking gamey as hell.
I'm of the opinion fuck rules, and you can't trade specific technology anyway, only technology in general so every technology treaty's a bit of a risk. The treaty game mechanics are so much better in SE:V that it shouldn't be necessary to have some elaborate system of rules.

I thought we agreed on no tech trading. Why is it that every game we agree on a set of rules, and then a number of turns in, someone starts talking about changing them?brianeyci wrote:What is the rule with technology trading. I still haven't heard from Gerard, but I don't think he uses different passwords for different things, so he might not be willing to give it out.

Okay no tech trading is good for me. I didn't remember because it wasn't really discussed, just said in the beginning and I forgot.
Too bad about the password. Is there any way you could change the password, uh, everywhere? Changing passwords is good for security anyway, and if this happens with other players too and we need replacements this will be a problem unless SE:V's patched to allow password changes. .
Meanwhile Nephtys has the same shipset as me. Anybody else using the bluish ships?
EDIT : Tuxedo can you login as "host" under players and see if you can reset the password for that individual empire? You could do it in SE:IV but I don't know about SE:V.

No go. I've noticed that a lot of old SE IV bugs have reappeared in this one, and a lot of previous functionality is missing. I think Aaron probably worked on SE V while still pushing out patches for IV, but didn't copy over the patch functionality to avoid delaying the game.brianeyci wrote:Okay no tech trading is good for me. Well. Convince your friend to give Stark the password Tuxedo, and do a little password security... I change my passwords every two months at most, especially sensitive ones like online banking. And if it's not sensitive, I don't really care .
People knew what they were getting into signing up... 48 hour turns, one turn every two days, fifteen turns a month, one game every half year. Even worse, 10 turns a month, if there wasn't a PBW. Brad has been bored to shit and he hasn't completely quit yet either.

Turn execution seems to have worked. Huzzah!

Well, they're not actively hunting them, they're just guarding my home system and destroying any intruders into said system.

Yeah I noticed that.
Nobody is going for fighters? Well you save on research if you don't go fighters since small weapons takes up a good chunk, and fighters is expensive. I really want to see the first 100 fighters versus 10+ ships battle armed with PD guns, so if it happens somebody pipe up and tell me what's happening.

well, I just did my first time for a long while and had SEV crash on me when I was halfway through Diplomacy (which from SE4 habit is the last thing I do in a turn).
So I'm done with it. The Cerulean Simplicity is up for grabs for anyone with more patience for incomplete software than me. The empire still has its starting homeworlds, a rudimentary defence fleet that has been autobuilding, and a war with the Antagonist Empire that so far hasn't amounted to much more than a scout plinging missiles at a remote colony.

The Prussians offered the Naga a treaty this turn and the message sounded way too elaborate to be an AI. It had the offer of a technology trade.
I have no problem with technology trade banning, but might as well make it clear in the game news or something. If it's happening with me it could be happening with others by accident. Also I propose that technology trading through analysis in a way violates the spirit of the ban, so I suggest that not be allowed too.
Even if it was allowed, what makes you think I'd give away all my technology for absolutely nothing. It was a one way tech trade to them, what a ripoff .

The Antagonist Empire agreed to my treaty and all I said was "Beep!" And they even blew up a colony ship of mine this turn and there's no hard feelings. Grease the wheels, yeah right .
You vodka filled yups, you're going to have to pry fighters 4 from my cold dead hands. By the way I'll be getting fighters 6 soon and heavy fighter. Siyonara peeps.

He gets it automatically if he joins and you put in the right password into PBW when you signed up for the game.GuppyShark wrote:Stark's in? Shit, I was waiting for an acknowledgement before sending him the empire password.
If not, Tuxedo can look at your empire file and give Stark the password. And Stark hasn't said anything about not having a password yet so likely he just hasn't gotten around to it.
