I loved that ship. That was a good series, and that was probably my favorite subplot througout.

Infamy is oh too apt.

The thrustships had to be lame as shit too from that same tragedy of a trilogy. I mean, something like 12 turbolasers around the equator of a globe-shaped ball-bearing of a warship? The big advantage being "at any given time, [x%] of the TL's could be aimed in any direction!" Oh yeah, GRAVITY bombs too, used by going outside of a ship [relative to proximity of a planet] and letting these bomblet things go dumb all the way to their target at speeds so slow, the PD lasers couldn't possibly intercept them.

At least they mentioned their greatest use was as suicide weapons. Japan stand-in anyone? I mean shit, samurai swords coming from the hands, xenophobic 2 D MAX, little maneuverable not-called-zero fighters, insane worship culture, attacking their peaceful little neighbors and strategically not standing a chance but making everyone see the horrors of war? [all describing the Yevathan] Oh yeah, don't forget these are the fuckers that gleefully smattered themselves against the Yuuzhan Vong and then did the same to a rescue party Jaina was in.

Anyway... rant aside, why not just the whole new series of NR ships in the series? Just by association with the trilogy's minimalism run amok. THE 5TH FLEET, ZOUNDS! HUGE MILITARY! CONTROVERSY! SENATE HEARINGS!

A-9 Vigilance, stupid looking and worst of all it was supposed to be an interceptor.

V-Wing Airspeeder from Dark Empire/Original N64 Rogue Squadron. I like that they had to use airspeeders in atmosphere for once, but I always got a sort of bad vibe from it that screamed "wank".

Errant Venture.

Millenium Falcon. I realize it's Classic, but it's fugly and it survives against ISDs. That bothers me.

JUst kidding. Seriously, the dead space bug ship is screwed up, albeit not as bad as the Vong.

Why the Carrack hate, I love those things.
Because, like most of the light Imperial warships, it literally looks like a piece of crap. I also hated the pre-retcon strike cruiser and the Lancer (love the idea, hate the design). The Carrack just earns my particular ire for having that oversized bridge window and bolt-on TIE racks, as well as armament that is apparently heavy enough to "take on larger warships" but light enough to be barely visible on any drawing or representation of it I've ever seen.

The only exceptions to my general dislike for these ships are the Bulk Cruiser (since I think it looks fine for either an armed cargo hauler or a warship for the desperately underfunded) and the Dreadnaught (though I think it should be scaled up about five times so it actually looks like it was once a frontline warship).

And I'm actually a fan of the Calamari vessels, the Venator, AND the E-wing!

"pre-retcon strike cruiser"?
The one in the computer games, etc is fugly, but I saw a picture recently on this site that made it look more like a "dagger ship." Slate grey, with ISD-style bridge windows. I'm ok with that model of strike cruiser.

This sucker?

That's Eidelon, a one-off design that never entered production. Never was even meant for production, in fact. No retcons involved.

Still a slick looking vessel, though.

Well, fine. I'll pretend that the strike crusier got retconned into something less hideous. :P

Shit, I loved the Z-95. Every time I saw them show up I knew I was going home safe with my kill count padded. :D

God, I wish I knew where my TIE Fighter disc was.

The Vhong fleet I just don't like the idea of organic ships. And the V-Wing(In Battlefront 2) it is slow and worthless.

The V-wing as seen in BF2 is non-canon. The V-wing canonically speaking is more of a TIE or A-wing equivalent for the GR.

Yeah, I'll never understand why the V-wing and ARC switched roles for that game. They made the V-wing the bomber (still the fastest and best bomber in the game) and the ARC a superiority fighter. They also took away the ARC's rear gunners! Swine.

Anyway, it goes without saying that the Vong suck. The Z-95 is cool, and in my mind coexists nicely with the ARC. That also ties in with the X-wing being commissioned as an Imperial fighter.

I hate uglies and micro-fighters almost as I hate bio wank or real tech-but looks bio wank (hornet interceptor).
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

I don't know about Dark Empire, but in the RS games the V-Wing was anything but wank. It was almost uncontrollable, had pathetic weapons (twin lasers that burned out after two seconds, missiles that went after your wingmen) and an afterburner that blew if you tried to use it. No shields, shit armour...

The tech descriptions were wankish but in practice it didn't have any real strong points apart from looking pretty good. I still like it though, because witha bit of practice you could make it work...just.

Those cluster missiles (once you upgraded them) were by far the easiest way to take down the goddamn droid fighters, IIRC.

Missile spam (guided missile spam) was indeed the best way to kill everything on a level fast, but if you try firing off a batch of CM's on Gerard V they'll ignore the Interceptors completely and blow up the shuttles. You can literally fail that mission in three seconds flat by hammering C-down as soon as the cinematic ends.

And even on Mon Calamari the V-wings were next to useless. 'Go blow up that World Devastator. Yes, the one with multiple guided missile batteries and pinpoint-accuracy turbolasers. The shielded X-wings will hang back and cheer while you get assraped in a glorified kite"

The V-wing was tricky, but in the hands of a good pilot it was the ship to go after gold medals with, with the exception of ones that required you to take a lot of punishment.

The X-wing could kill Devastators better on Mon Calamari but it took far too long to kill the TIE/Ds.

Wait, NO, the uglies are awesome! Personally, I love the look. I mean, uglies aren't purported to be anything but pirate-using mish-mashes and fall within the realm of credulity.

Unlike micro-fighters, which can just go straight to hell though, especially the Sii-Ruuk which was pure wank. 2 meters in length and if the rest of the vehicle guide is to be believed, super-maneuverable, tougher and lasers more powerful than an X-Wing, very fast and literally swarms of them. :wanker:

Uglies are a near engineering impossibility. Do you really think wielding pieces from totally different craft to each other is really going to be something workable? An ugly is in reality likely to rip itself apart or blow up the first time a laser bolt hit it.
Though I do admit the X-TIE you showed is the most attractive and reasonable of the uglies.

As for the Sii-Ruuk droid fighter it isn't any worse than the ultra-maneuverable, well-armed, not much larger Vulture Droid. Besides the toughness of a Sii-Ruuk fighter is in reference to something its size. Besides they weren't that wanked considering an outnumbered force of Rebel and Imperial fighters and pickets were able to defeat them. A dozen Nebulon-Bs were all that was required to drive the Sii-Ruuk all the way back to their homeworld.

The Sii-Ruuk fighters are as nothing compared to the bio-wank of the Yuuzhan Vong, which are what I despise the most.

Actually, those would appear to be those Twi'lek Chir'daki "Death Seed" fighters. The X-TIE is an X-wing fuselage with TIE fighter wings.
