ignoring minor problems like the enviroment, could you use nukes to propel a city sized spaceship into the solarsystem?
This day is Fantastic!

Look at the Orion project thread in SLAM.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

From another solar system ? Yes of course, you could even use handgrenades for this... it would just take a lot of times...
From Earth into orbit ? I don't think so, not without destroying your ship by atmospheric shockwaves AND depopulating Earth while starting.

from earth to orbit, and a little further. to mars or the gas giants. what would be needed for a somewhat safe launch? ignore enviromental effects - what is needed for the ship to survive?
and, would a gigaton blast be seen from mars?
