Wii Webbrovser

Post by Faram »

Just D/L it, worked fine with sd.net and youtube.

Now all I need is Super Mario Bros and I will never leave the TV off.

It certainly does work! I'm 'typing' this reply on my Wii right now! Woo!

nah, predictive text + sms-style keypad makes it fine for short stuff. Is anyone else getting black borders on top and sides though?

I think I recall that being mentioned over at PA.

Anyway, I'm intensely jealous. Damn Nintendo has to hold off until January for their stupid LAN Adapter...

I'm actually pretty impressed. It's simple, unconfigurable stuff, but you can browse, zoomed is fine for across-the-room reading of SDN, and the text entry is fine. If the full version has more options, it'll be awesome, but I'll be buying it anyway.

Actually, much Wii software is options-light, which bothers me. Boxing/Billiards/etc would all be much better games if you could use secret hidden options to tweak options, use different rules, change round times, scoring, etc. Many of the minigames are fine games already, but you can only play one 'way' and that sucks.

Actually, the full version, to be released in March, will be free until June.

Free if you get it before June. Those who get it after June have to pay for it.

Actually, it's really, really fast. About as fast as typing with one finger on a keyboard (with practice you can do it fairly quickly). I should record myself typing and put the video up on YouTube...

I think that's largely because they are minigames, and partly tech demos for the controller.[/u]

Any purely mouse driven flash game can be played with it. Some might be harder than others though.

Yeah, now it works. This little thing is nuts. I can't wait until the final product is out. Should be fun. I wonder how the updates are going to be. I've already came across parts of the web that I can't see.

It's much better than with an analog stick.

Also, I don't like the pointer. I hope we can change it in the full version.

I've been using it nearly exclusively for youtube and newgrounds... Movies work pretty well, but it needs a QT type plug-in.
