"Magnification" for Firefox?

Post by FSTargetDrone »

Does anyone know if there is a setting I missed or can you suggest a good plug-in I've not been able to find as yet which would allow me to magnify the contents of the Firefox window, as Opera lets you magnify the page with that handy drop-down selection on the upper right of its page? I know "CTRL+" and "CTRL-" increases the size of the text on a page displayed by Firefox, but I want the whole thing magnified, pictures and all, just like Opera does. I need to do this because my Firefox is not as wide screen-friendly for my laptop as Opera is.

And I use both Opera and Firefox, so it's not a matter of just choosing Opera for this.

Thanks!

PageZoom is the best you'll get for now. The engine Firefox is built on doesn't support this function as well as IE7 or Opera yet, but will be implemented come Firefox 3.

Thanks! I see that the quality isn't as good, but it's better than nothing, which is exactly what I've found up to now.

At least 2007 isn't that far off! Hopefully they'll have the new version with this implemented soon.

Thanks again.

When Gecko 1.9 is released in Firefox 3 at the end of 2007, you'll have a much better engine doing proper vector rendering. Until then, this is the best we can expect, but it works.

Well, I've been using this plugin since yesterday and it works fairly well. However, every time I click a link or go back to a previous page, the browser reverts to its standard appearance and then resizes to the percentage zoom I want after a short delay. So that's a little distracting.

It may be. I always read it'd be the last quarter of 2007, but it'd be nice if earlier.
