Science now backs up parents who hate noisy toys!

AmericaBlog [Note to Chat People: THIS IS NOT A RIGHT-WING NUTBAR SITE!!!!!!]
s the Christmas gifts are being opened, there will be plenty of parents with the infamous look of dread (not to mention loathing in the direction of the gift giver) as kids jump onto the noisiest gift in the bunch. Somehow the batteries always died quickly when I was a kid or the noisy bit would just stop on it's own or so I thought.
Yahoo! Has! A! News! Site! wrote:"With most toys, your child will only damage their hearing if they use them for too long a duration, or if they stick them in their ear," Dr. Brad Backus, a research fellow at University College London's Ear Institute who performed the study, said in a press release. "Our advice is pretty simple: don't let your child hold noisy toys too close to their ear, and don't let them play with them for more than an hour a day."
There you have it. Science is on your side. Good luck pitching this one though in the excitement of the moment.

So is everyone ready for Christmas?

Wow... It's a good point, but I honestly don't think many people will listen. Seemingly, the progression of children's toys has been such that parents are required to provide extra stimulation less and less. If you give a young child a puzzle, not only do you have to help them, but they will bore of it and you need to find something else. If you get the big toy that stands in the middle of the room with lights, sounds, pegs, knobs, and every other attatchment you can put on there, all you have to do is make sure they don't choke. I can't see many parents being willing (subconciously) to have that taken away from them on the offchance that their children will not have bionic hearing.

I'm with that. More of a 'blocks' guy for my baby. Rattles are okay, not too noisy. Sure, play with the rice bottle. Nice music box... it's mechanical. Electronics? meh. very very meh.

Let's work on how simple objects act before we get into the more 'deus ex machina' electronics.
