So, Living Waters people, how come you're just lurking there? Don't you want to save us? Do you hate us that much that you wish us an eternity of torment? How about joining in the discussion? Maybe your game will open our hearts to God's love?

Come on guys, at least try.

Hell, I first saw the words "logical fallacy" while reading the main site's hate mail, but while I knew and understood (for the most part) fallacies, I didn't really understand debating until I took a class in logic.
That's a good point; people learn about fallacies on their own and they start getting an idea of what is not logic, but they still don't necessarily understand what is logic. And a lot of people have trouble separating "fallacies" from "dishonesty" or even "inappropriate debate behaviour".
And then of course is the occasional case of the idiot who tries to say your pointing out logical fallacies in an argument is invalid and somehow a sign of weakness in your position.

Anyone remember that Simpsons ep where Bart is shown a film about "Life Without Zinc?" We need to put together a similar video for these jokers.

Go for it (as soon as Last Bastion is finished of course  ) as youtube is your area of expertise.

The funny thing is, there actually is a "fallacy fallacy", but people don't actually understand it. What the fallacy fallacy states is that just because a particular argument is fallacious doesn't make the conclusion false. For example, the argument "The sun comes up every day because my pa told me so" is fallacious, but the thesis -- the sun comes up every day -- is still true. What people take the "fallacy fallacy" to mean, however, is that pointing out fallacies is itself fallacious, which is certainly incorrect.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

Holy shit, I was wondering why this thread was so damn long after looking at it and deigning not to comment due to the limited scope of the subject, I come back in and I'm amazed. Livingwaters is genuine, guys, there's a livingwaters church near me somewhere (it looks like it's shut all the time, though), I find it awesome that you were quoted, though. I just wish I'd said something quotable, now!

How about "The tyranids in 40k are now a species in crisis."

No, too irrelevent.

"Whoever came up with this game is obviously not an intelligent designer."

"I like how the intellectual bankruptcy of their position forces them to attempt the corruption of sheltered children."

"O lord Darwin, please deliver us from this abomination!"

Well, this is almost a sig-worthy quote. Which is better than being on a twisted fundie list of quotes.

Mark, with all due respect (I have to say this), that has to be about the dumbest statement I have ever heard. Forgive me for the use of the word "dumb," but it’s the only appropriate word in this case. Note, I’m not calling you dumb. It’s the statement :).

Jesus said, "Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her has committed adultery already with her in his heart." Even done that? Then you are in big trouble. I don’t want you to end up in Hell. Please, think about your eternal salvation. There’s nothing more important.

Best wishes to you and yours.

After saying lightning and radiowaves are essentially the same thing he responds with this.
You only believe what you believe about radio waves because you have a blind faith in science. I don’t. I trust God and His Word.
Truly astounding ignorance, though hardly surprising considering he's a born-again christian.

In that situation, the move is Mike's "I'll risk eternal damnation by blaspheming your god in every way imaginable while you 'tempt' the scientific laws of gravity by jumping off the Empire State Building" challenge.

Thanks for the great laughs.
Ray the creationist moron wrote:"Like the sun’s existence, the existence of God is axiomatic"
Also just gotta love how Ray starts condeming other Christians by the end of the exchange. And how the hell does his rant about the "remarkable symphony" of natural radio waves around the planet show the Bible contains scientific facts not known to man until centuries after the fact?

And the saddest thing is they'd probably quote that as if the "dragging other people to Hell" thing was actually true and you really intended to do that out of the sheer darkness of your evil secularist hearth. Those people are so trapped in their ridiculous delusions that they've forgotten about even basic moral concepts like honesty. Or maybe I'm wrong and they haven't actually forgotten about them but just choose to ignore them.

Pitiable. And I don't mean that derogatory but literally. They're to be pitied. To believe in a world like that has to be very depressing.

You could try Hybrid. A little more like Fantasy Space Hulk than Heroquest/Warhammer Quest perhaps, but the rules are very nice, once you finish translating them (The official translation seems to have gone about halfway).

Plus you can get the statlines for quite a lot of Rackham's Confrontation tabletop range to use in it, rather than just the Griffins vs. Dirz it starts off with.

As far as I know, the Bible never defined what "blasphemy abainst the Holy Spirit" really means and I have yet to see two fundies agree on it, so you're still on the fundy hit list.

Since this board is basically your property, couldn't you ask them to take it down or give credit or something? I don't know, I'm no lawyer.

I thought there was pretty fair consensus that blasphemy basically means "saying anything about God that isn't true". In other words, it's pretty much the same thing as heresy, and it was one of the accusations used by one ideological splinter group to persecute another one during the formative period of Christianity.

If true, this would mean that it's possible for a Christian to be more of a blasphemer than an atheist, by virtue of saying things about God that he just sort of made up, whereas an atheist might rarely talk about God at all.

At least in my ideological background, blasphemy is denying that a miraculous phenomenon is the work of the Holy Spirit or worse, attributing it to Satan. It's supposed to be the one and only unforgiveable sin.

The blasphemy against the holy spirit thing is essentially a polemic against those that deny the holy spirit as a concept and as the source for the miracles of Jesus. The idea being that calling Jesus names or whatever was forgivable, but not attributing the Spirit's works or it as a concept. There were undoubtedly people around attributing stuff the spirit is meant to have done to others, heathen gods, satan, yourself, etc, and this was aimed at them. Say it wasn't our version of God and you will be forever outcast/shunned/unforgiven etc.
