We're a Nielson family!

W00t! This means I actually have some say in what shows live and what shows die. I intend to have Firefly, Futurama, King of the Hill, Andy Richter, Malcom in the Middle, and John Doe on if we have the little measuring box (if we don't, I'll write in the diary that I watched them). Other than that, I never watch TV...so any requests?

Never, ever, ever watch "reality TV" shows.

Also, no shows that start with "Dr.", "Judge" or your generic daytime talk/variety shows (Caroline, Wayne Brady, Montel, Lowanda).

I also think you have some work to do to help weed out all the really crappy cartoons that are currently on.:D Please do what you can to get rid of Yugi-Oh. :?

Or Enterprise. But I guess that goes without saying.

So far all the don'ts are shows that I'd never watch to begin with. If there's anyone who actually looks at all this data, I wonder what they'd think of a household that watches five or six sci-fi shows but NOT Enterprise.

I might not be able to do Farscape, by the way. The Sci-Fi channel routinely has four minute commercial breaks, and I won't watch a show with that many commericals just on general principle. Ditto MTV and VH1.

<sigh> Of course, I'm outnumbered. For each person strategically watching good television to try to boost the ratings, there's 100 idiots happily tuning into "Survivor: Mogadishu" or wherever the fuck they are now.

I'm with you, my brother. I love that show. I wish it wasn't on Friday night when half the time I'm not there to see it--hmm...I wonder if that might possibly be why the ratings suck?

They need to talk to the guys who schedule commercials to schedule these shows. Do you see tampon commercials during football games? Beer commercials with big-breasted women during soap opera hours? Of course not. The target audience isn't watching TV then. So why in the world would you run a sci-fi show targeted at young males in a time slot where practically nobody between the ages of 13 and 25 is home watching TV? Idiots.

They canceled it too, after shelving the pilot and showing the eps out of order. Check my sig and send postcards and stuff to UPN to get them to pick it up!

That's what I did when we got one of those damned surveys. All of the shows I liked I marked.

So tune in and walk away during commercials. :D
