switching antiviruses -- keep the old one?

The trial subscription to Symantec antivirus that came with my laptop has run out, and I'm switching to CA. Should I uninstall or otherwise disable symantec antivirus and firewall, or leave them alone?

The firewall should be fine.

But it's a good idea to uninstall an inactive virus scan. Sometimes they can interfere with each other.
