Before we’ve always used little buttons and joysticks to commit acts of violence in videogames but as shown in the promo you can now act out beating down Pixel Pete and throwing him over the railing.
Is this really any different from what we’ve done before or does this add an unsettling dimension to violent games?

This isn't that much different. Playing a gun game with a lightgun does not make you a killer. Shaking a remote around does not turn you into a violent mafia hitman. The only thing that should be disturbing is that people want to play games where you beat people up, not the manner in which the beating takes place. And since it's hardly that shocking by now that violent media exists in all forms (books, TV, movies, games, music) I wouldn't call this a new step. Especially not when this game is on one side of the spectrum with Cooking Mama coming out on the other side.
If that guy goes out and throws people around the way he learned to on a Wii, he'll get his arms broken. If he already knew how to throw people around, he didn't need a Wii to set him off. Angry people play angrily, but they probably also bowl angry and gamble angry. I'd rather give people a steam vent and a safe retreat so that they grow fearful of actual fighting, than to take it away and let it come out in the real world.

Oh I know but the game is a decent example of more realistic controls allowing you to virtually bitchslap some poor sap, even if the controls demonstrated look slow and clumsy.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Either way, the game still blows.
Really I can't think of any objections outside of what's normally heard from anti-videogame crusaders.
