C&C 3 FMV trailer (Spoilers)

Post by Trogdor »

Preordering C&C3 apparently lets you view some bonus sneak peaks of the game, including a trailer of the cutscences, and somebody put it up on Youtube. While I have some misgivings about the game, the FMV trailer looks amazing, IMO. Link

It seems as if both GDI and Nod have internal conflicts this time. With GDI it's a fight over whether or not to use tiberian weapons in what is assumably a desperate moment in the war. Director Boyle's for it; General Granger's against it.

With Nod it seems to be a dispute over the aliens. General Qutar views the aliens as a greater threat than GDI. Kane thinks differently.

Looks like both campaigns may fork, quite possibly even having different endings. :)

So, based on the trailer, whose side would you chose? Boyle or Granger? Kane or Qutar?

Bah, Youtube down at the moment.

Can't say that I've been impressed from what I've seen from C&C3 so far tough. Same old gameplay and some really uninspired units (especially that GDI walker with 3 guns on top, can it be designed any worse?).

But maybe I'll like it once I had to chance to try it out

If you speak of the Juggernaught, then yes, it could be worse. You could have this.

I love the cheesy acting. It's weird seeing Tricia Helfer acting that way, since we know she can act from nBSG.

As much nostalgia as this is sure to offer, I'll admit, the gameplay mechanic of C&C is, well...not aging well. I caught a glimpse of the GDI tactic video and the idea of having fighter/bombers that need micro back at base in order to swap between AA, Bomb, or Mix just doesn't strike me as a fantastic idea for something you need to do in the middle of combat. Specials that units can do can be nice, but please can we limit the micro needed to play these games?

That said, the video looks great and is classic C&C. Sam Fisher Vs. Lando is fantastic, and Six vs. Kane is almost as sweet.

Honestly, it looks like CoH >>>>> SupComm >>> C&C3

I may get it when it drops in price. Maybe. If they have some version that comes with a DVD of the movies.

Although I'm not entirely enthusiastic with some of the decisions that seem to have been made about game play, I'll definitely still be getting this game when it comes out. Call me a sucker for cut scenes, and with the actors they've got for this, they're guaranteed to be golden. :)

I wonder if those insect things at the end are supposed to be Scrin in origin. They did note that the faction would play a much larger role this time around.

I'm just happy to see Kane back in all his awesomeness. Especially his ranting. Oh, man. That's gonna be awesome.

The gameplay hasn't really grabbed me very much. While I still like playing Red Alert (both of them) on occassion I'm not sure how well I'll like this one. If it's done by the same team who did Generals (which, I think, it is) then I'll like it well enough to play through to see all the wonderfully cheesy cutscenes. And, hey, they may actually revel some of the Scrin themselves!

Oh, well. Either way it'll be better than the last Tiberium outing.

The Juggernaught is actually a hold over from the Firestorm expansion pack to TS, not a new thing. It's a total mystery why the developers of C&C3 chose that piece of crap to be what I'm fairly certain is the only armor unit exclusively from TS to make it into this game.

Almost certainly. Both leaked concept art and what little videos of the scrin that have been released (neither of which I have on hand, unfortunatly) show many of their units as having a decidedly insectoid look.

It's so very bizzare, since it was an utterly useless unit. Oh, sure, it had the range of an artillery piece, but it had horrible accuracy and crap damage. Good in numbers against NOD defensive structures, but since most mid-to-heavy GDI vehicles can survive a few hits from them, anyway, and they can take on anything on the ground, it's better to just invest in those.

Fun fact: In the Firestorm GDI mission "Dogma Day Afternoon" you are given a Juggernaught. The only real use for it is so that you can kill the vein hole monsters. Why did you need to do this? So you can get the Juggernaught through the level.

In all seriousness, though, the Juggernaught in C&C3 is supposed to be an upgraded version, so perhaps they've tweaked it enough to make it useful. The Nod artillery piece had its uses, after all. Still, if they were going to keep a mech, they might as well have kept the Titan or the Wolverine. At least those were useful.

The NOD Artilery piece has always been useful. The thing excells at breaking a base's defenses. Unlike the crappy Juggernaught the thing has excellent damage and, while it varies in accuracy (from game to game) the thing always hits and building and it murders infantry. And, unlike GDI, the NOD mid-to-heavies can't take GDI base defense hits nearly as well. You can lay absolute waste to an entire base in short order with four of five of the things.

And I remember that level. Jebus. What a joke. :D

If they actually improve the thing, then I'm okay with it being there. I didn't really mind the design (at least, compared to all the other mech units), what I really disliked was it's uselessness.

EDIT: Oh, yeah. I forgot one thing; they sounded like snorting pigs when they fired their guns  That's one thing about them they need to keep.

I always thought it was funny that in Tiberian Sun, looking at the damage and hitpoint figures and costs in the data files, the old Mammoth Tank was actually a better buy than the new Titan walkers.

Three cheers for XCC Mixer & Notepad ;) . Couldn't go wrong modding RA2 or TS :) .

As for the FMV sequences - good to see the Nod leader back in action. Of course I'll be dropping tiberium bombs on every square inch of Nod territory until he's dead, but it's nice to know I can do it all over again  .

Are you sure it was Six vs Kane? Was Kane talking about her when he was on his rant? EDIT: Watched it again, he didn't seem to be. The names are different.

I'm fairly certain he's talking about the same person, especially considering General Qutar's plea for the player character to abandon Kane earlier in the video. Perhaps Achillian is her first name.

He most definitely was ranting about General Killian Qatar, not Qutar ("Of all of Killian's offenses, and they are legion...").

It is interesting that the Brotherhood has a presence in Australia.

That being said, the acting and FMV is definitely an improvement over the previous games.

Even though they retained the Juggernaut this is still negated by the fact that they replaced the AT-AT rip-off with a proper Mammoth Tank.

Fuck you and your CoH! IF you are going to play a WW2 RTS, play a proper one- like Hearts of Iron, with grand strategic combat and no stupid base-building in the hedgerows of France.

Generally, the distinction between "RTS" and "RTT" (real-time tactics) is that RTS involves basebuilding whereas RTT involves a fixed amount of units for the given scenario.

1) HoI isn't a true RTS. It's more akin to a wargame or more accurately, a hybrid of subgenres.

2) 0h n0z teh base buildin!!!1
