What is the current style of clothing for civilians in the UFP? I know they used to wear spandex, but what do they wear now?

What happened to the Romulan uniforms? They just went from being really big shouldered to regular?

Why do all Klingons seem to wear military clothes?

just a few questions I would like to be anwsered

Any Klingon who isn't in the military is a wuss and not a true Klingon. Therefore, all Klingon need a military uniform.

I saw one male crewmember in TOS wear a skirt. A short skirt.

Generally I like Trek but their fashion sense is completely devoid.

At least TOS had some fashion to it, with bright colors and some variation in the civilian dress. According to TNG and DS9, civilians wear clothing of similar cut and color to the standard Starfleet uniforms (*shudder*)

Off-Topic: I think the business suit that Sheridan wears in B5 season 5 is a fairly accurate prediction of what the next step in the evolution of the "business suit" will be.

Clothes in that show were pretty cool.

Back on topic: Perhaps all this uniformity was something of Roddenberry's vision.

Kosh's suit was by far the coolest. I thought the Minbari robes were of questionable coolness, though the occasional one looked very cool. The Psi Corps uniforms were definitely the coolest of the human outfits.

On the issue of civilian dress, the jumpsuits disapeared with DS9 (or at least the first couple of seasons) however they may have cropped up again during Voyager (I can't really remember what people were wearing i the episodes where we see earth).

Oh and the guy with a min skirt is in the TNG Encounter at Farpoint (I think) although there could have also been an occurance during TOS.

There's a guy in a mini-skirt? Maybe that's why I never watched much of The Next Geenration.

Roddenberry's comments on his forlorn regret at never having experimented with homosexuality (see interview with Humanist magazine) should be kept in mind when examining TNG season 1.

I find that attitude bizarre to say the least. If you're gay, you're gay. If you're straight, you're straight. If you're bi, you're bi. But if you wish you had tried a sexual orientation other than your own, what does that make you?

That is kind of bizarre. I can see experimenting with different KINDS of girls (or guys, if you're gay), but I really have no interest in experimenting with homosexuality, though I do try to understand gays as best I can.

Strange then that Trek has never had an overtly gay character (although Peter David tries to squeeze at least one into every trek book he writes).

It would make him a loon. That really comes as no suprise. He was more than a bit nutty towards the end and stuff like that only goes to prove it.

Also they tapped out all the story ideas a LONG time ago, I would kinda like to see a nice nod to swashbuckling space opera's with a crew of Rogues, who wear nice stylish, clothing.

I miss the Really Puffy Shirts of the TNG and DS9 Romulans. I thought those were hilarious.

TOS had the best clothing though, as it's full of shiny miniskirts and tops with *ahem* nice cuts. In the future, go-go outfits are highly fashionable and that's just fine with me.

Some of the Minbari robes were particularly effeminate, not to mention highly impractical for a spacefaring culture (zero g = problem). Yet another case of applying brainbug before brains.

On the subject of Trek uniforms, they're really not that bad for shipboard use. Sure many incarnations are ugly but they serve their purpose given that the crew are in a climate-controlled environment with no weather and should be at least remotely prepared for the loss of gravity control.

My problem is that many post TOS uniforms aren't practical for human needs. For instance, early TNG uniforms were jumpsuits that only zipped half-way down the chest. You'd have to get out of the thing to go to the bathroom. This counts doubly for women.
Plus, they appear to be tailor fitted.

Wow, the blatant hypocrisy is stunning. You're giving the Minbari shit for not being prepared for the loss of gravity yet say Trek uniforms are fine for a climate controlled environment. Frankly the HVAC is more likely to break than the gravity.

As I said, naked hypocrisy.
