Suppose every Bomb ever made "H-Bombs, A-Bombs, and even little small bombs" was blown up in the middle of a desert wasteland?
What happens short-term and long term?

I meant a hypothetical uninhabited desert. And I forgot one last thing, there is an old man at the point of detination of all the bombs.
Just wondering, would this move the earth at all?

If it was a sandy desert, you would get a little layer of glass over lots more sand. There would be a crater, and there would be lots of radiation, though the vast majority of it would be going down wind. Immediately afterwards, there would be a large increase in the temperature nearby, but that excess heat would die down pretty quick. I'm not quite sure what you're trying to ask for. There are ltos of effects that happen whenever you detonate nuclear weapons, and even conventional weapons have repercussions, but it's kind of difficult to list them all.

Yeah, but if they're all detonated near-simultaneously and spaced rather close together you're going to get a fair bit of fratricide, and most of the effects will be concentrated in one area of the planet in question, based on weather patterns.phongn wrote:Quite a bit of fallout as this appears to be a groundburst.

Dunno if its true or not, but I've heard that a 20 megaton A-bomb can cause a 2,000 square mile firestorm... if that's true then detonating everything ever produced would be rather bad.

Yes I can see the firestorm happening so easilyDunno if its true or not, but I've heard that a 20 megaton A-bomb can cause a 2,000 square mile firestorm... if that's true then detonating everything ever produced would be rather bad.

Total nuclear arsenal is only about 6 GT if I recall correctly. Short-term localized fallout, some short-term localized environmental changes. Good thing the desert only contains the one guy

Reminds me of an old tale about a flat-earther. The flat-earther had learned that the Russians were going to set off a nuclear bomb, and he was convinced that the force of the blast would tip the earth over. And so he called up the US government to try to get them to make the Russians stop the test. He was reassured that he had nothing to worry about, as the Americans would be setting of their own nuclear bomb at the same time to balance out the effects of the Russian blast.
