Did she really type that? Did she really imply yet again that atheists are future muslim extremists? Where's the outcry on network news about her idiocy? Why was she invited on CNN in the first place?
Three words: Lowest Common Denominator.
It's the media's bread and butter. You can make far more money catering to the 90% of proudly ignorant and stupid people than the 10% which actually took learning seriously when they were in school. Not only are they far more numerous, but they are also far more susceptible to advertising gimmicks, which means your sponsors love them. Really, why would sponsors want you to cater to people with good critical thinking skills? The first thing that critical thinkers hone their skills on is ... guess what ... commercials.

As idiotic as it is, I can understand why she would do that - talking about the dead woman is easy ratings, but for a limited time only. The atheism bit doesn't have as pressing of a time component.

Remind her of the Treaty of Tripoli and that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and I think John Madison were Deists and not Christians, thus it could not be a Christian Nation; Oh and tell her the Atheists say 'You're Welcome' for freeing her race from the slavery of the south since an Atheist was the one who made the Emancipation Proclaimation, namely Abraham Lincoln.
I find that it's amusing to point out that this glorious "Christian Nation" was founded on Manifest Destiny and black slavery. If those are indeed the kind of "Christian values" that the country was founded on, then the country is right to move away from them.

Ask her if her Pulitzer came in a crackerjack box.

She'll likely also find her credibility in a dumpster somewhere.
That was nice. Honestly, i´m starting to like these people. It´s a bit like watching these accident videos on youtube. You know that it´s horrible but a certain amount of entertainment value is there
On a more relevant note, I am utterly appalled by the circus that was this "discussion". I'm not really, surprised, though; I've been becoming weary of CNN's increasingly conservative, condescending, sensationalist, and cowardly culture; Glenn Beck, Nancy Grace, often enough Larry King, and all of them without any strong, sensible counterbalance. I don't watch the network all that much, but this latest display has convinced me to cut my patronage of its channels to zero. No network that would serve up a mockery like this "panel" and try to pass it off as anything other than partisan bigotry is deserving of an iota of respect or notice.

See if you can get her to make a formal apology for lying on CNN. If she asks you where she lied, tell her "You said atheists don't believe in anything. You claimed I (assuming you're an atheist, anyway, I'm not aware of any statements you've given on the subject to be honest) don't believe in anything just because I don't think gods are real. You're ignorant and you spoke on subjects you know nothing about, and that's something a proper journalist should not do at all costs. What the hell is the matter with you?"
Amend it as necessary.

Debbie Schlussel: When Atheists a/k/a Future Muslims Attack
By Debbie Schlussel
Something happened over the last 24 hours. Beginning last night, my inbox became populated with vile hate-mail from atheists. No skin off my back.
But it is entertaining and amusing. It's hard to believe their letters because they were all attacking me for my appearance on CNN's "Paula Zahn Now," a week ago, but coincidentally each letter claims the sender just watched me on CNN. First of all, the video of that segment appears nowhere on the net. Believe me, if it did, I'd link to it. Secondly, since I appeared on the show a week ago, that all these "seminar" e-mailers are now all e-mailing me the same basic hate message, populated with a diversity of obscene insults, it's easier to believe that they were easily brainwashed into sending me the missives as a result of an atheist blog that just put up an attack on me, yesterday.
I'm surprised these atheists would be so obedient to a higher power that told them to e-mail me since, after all, the one thing they're supposed to have in common is a lack of belief in a higher power. Well, no-one ever said atheists are consistent or immune from hypocrisy.
I don't mind receiving the atheist hate mail, since I know that in a few years, many of these same people will either be Muslim extremists (redundant) or helping the country fall further in its fight against the creep of Islamic imposition on America . . . or both.
Look at famous atheists and what happened to them. Adam Gadahn a/k/a Azzam Al-Amriki--now a top Al-Qaeda video "personality"--was raised by his hippie Jewish father and equally bizarre gentile mother as an atheist. And look how he turned out. Ditto for hippie-spawn John Walker Lindh.
Those two people are enemies of America, and many of those who think like them are of equally weak mind. If you don't believe in anything, you'll easily fall for virtual nothings. That's why Europe is so quickly turning Islamist--because atheism dominates and Christianity is rapidly dying there. Over there, the number one cause for which atheists are suddenly finding "god" is Islam.
Over here, as I pointed out on CNN, atheists are on the attack against religion and G-d only when Christians and Jews are involved, not when Muslims and Islam are. A Christian prayer at a public school graduation or football game? Send in the ACLU lawyers. A Muslim prayer at a high school football game in Dearbornistan? Suddenly, when the "Religion of Peace" is involved, atheists boast extreme tolerance and display ultimate deference. No lawsuits. Ever. And the Muslim prayers continue.
So to you hate-filled atheists a/k/a future Muslim extremists (redundant), your e-mails have no effect on me. Ditto for your creative obscenities which don't impress upon me the civility of the atheo-fascisti set.
But thanks for the material for this post. And nice try, telling me you saw me on CNN, last night. That was a week ago. Last night, was when Sean Hannity deliberately plagiarized my work on Islamic imam Husham Al-Husainy on FOX News. Different network, different show, my name clearly not mentioned (just my work ripped off by Hannity; Thanks, Sean).

That's the most fucking disgusting piece of shit I've seen. Lady, you're calling atheists "idiots", you should look at yourself first, asswipe. I utterly dislike these hate mongering "Christians" who are the most ignorant and intolerant people on the face of the Earth.
She's also a liar. She tries to list atheists who have become Al-Quaeda members, but there is no evidence that either of her examples were ever actually atheists. Lindh in particular was a highly religious Christian who converted to Islam.
The funny thing is that her fellow anti-atheist Dinesh D'Souza takes a completely different tack in order to attack atheists, and argues that our excessive secularism has angered Al-Quaeda (far more so than hundreds of years of meddling in their politics, apparently) so we should let the fundies run things here in order to placate them.

The worst thing is that they didn't show the least bit of sympathy with the family that was being ostracized in their community. Instead, the unpleasant woman Karen Hunter kept saying that atheists "needs to shut up". And the maniac Schlussel spouted the BS that "atheists attacks Christianity" and she even called Michael Newdow "obnoxious". Oh, and on a side note, I just love her movie reviews on her site:
Debbie Schlussel wrote:One is "The Departed," which stars lefty enviro-hypocrite Leonardo DiCrapio and lefty U.S. military-hater Matt Damon, and co-stars all-around political scumbag, Alec Baldwin.
This woman has never creeped me out as much as now (I only had a passing knowledge about her earlier though).
A panel about atheists without a single atheist filled with hate mongering speech. I'm disgusted.
The existence of such radical right-wingers, whose rhetoric is just as florid and unreasonable as that of any white supremacist, is in itself neither surprising or even particularly disturbing. The fact that they are actually considered acceptable personalities on mainstream TV, however, is very disturbing.

On a similar theme, this is an article about the supposed "war on Christmas" - what's most interesting to me is that these journalists present (as their ONLY evidence to support their arguments) complete lies but never ever seem to get pulled up on it (except by minority pulications like "Private Eye"). And then THEY have to gall to complain about media conspiracies.
