Question about heat
where on your computer can you find information telling you how hot it runs

MBM 5 but it hasn't been updated since 2k4!. I had to put a -25°C bias on the sensor for the secondary hard drive (60gig Maxtor from the New Orleans Age). I think I need to find a more modern replacement for MBM anyway.
ASUS PC Probe II will tell him what he needs to know. To get, go to Asus.com, select your region, click on downloads, and then select your product type (motherboard), socket type and model number. The software will be in the utilities section of your results. Also, for CPU temperatures, I'd suggest using CoreTemp, since it reads the sensor directly on the CPU (Asus and most other software report the temp from a sensor on the motherboard, under the CPU socket, which can be off by as much as 10 or 15 degrees C).
