Work as Darth Vader's apprentice?
Darth Vader is the apprentice. Why can't we just play as Darth Vader and kill lots of people?

If the cops had used those things, the question would be "What Rodney King?"
I'm definately excited for this game. Hopefully Karen Traviss has absolutely no part in the development and story.
Interesting though, that the article implies an attempt to dethrone Palpatine. I don't see Palpatine allowing Vader to live after such a scheme, and I'm pretty sure that if someone attacked Palpatine directly, je would firgure out eventually who sent them.

Looks like we have a crashing new wedge-ship. Looks vaguely like a Venator-hull, but with a more ISD-style bridge.

Yeah, that is sweet...VT-16 wrote:There's been instances of ISDs in atmospheres ever since Dark Empire II, but this really shows it close to the ground. Holy shit, is it big.
According to the old Hyperspace blurb for each pic, that's Naboo it's flying over. Guess the Emperor loves his old pad so much he just had to show it in style.
The pieces of the armor makes sense. In the OT, the lights on Vader's chest control panel were blue and red, in ROTS they were more kind of green and pinkish.VT-16 wrote:Oh, and based on the Hasbro figure showcase, Vader's gonna lose his mask and helmet and pieces of his armor. Again.
I think that's the third instance of that happening to him (First being a picture in SW:Visionaries, and the second was in SW:Purge, with his mask slashed).

Does this pic scream wank or what?
The idea of a jedi-based game with modern physics engines makes me all tingly though.

You know the interactive cutscenes in Resident Evil 4? Because it'll be similar to them.SylasGaunt wrote:Does this pic scream wank or what?
It goes down like this:
The Star Destroyer is crashing. However, there's no guarantee that the traitorous captain will die, since the SD is notorious sturdy, and most of the ship will certainly survive the crash. So you start running towards the ship, do a Force Jump onto the bow and then run as fast as your Force-enhanced legs can carry you all the way up the ship, all the way to the Command Bridge, through which you Force Push some debris through the front viewport and then jump through, cut down the commander, and then slaughter the rest of the bridge crew before setting the ship for self-destruct and high-tailing it out of there.
Now, that's mindlessly wankish, but just try and tell me that it wouldn't be god damn fucking AWESOME.

No No No. The bridge is too high up, you'd need to climb/run up the side of a building (Using TK to cling to its side as you do) then leap from it to the hull, then you leap into a "hole" in the ship .DPDarkPrimus wrote:

And yes, it would indeed be most awesome

If that scale goes how I think it does, that is a TINY Star Destroyer. That front lip impacting the surface looks like it's only about 2-3 decks high judging from the surrounding buildings.
I believe in a sign of Zeta.

The buildings themselves are at an odd scale to the human. I think it would work if they made the jedi smaller, but then he'd lose the focus in the shot.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:If that scale goes how I think it does, that is a TINY Star Destroyer. Great, so there's some stupid lamer option to become a light-side Jedi- what kind of pussy would make that decision in between RotS and ANH?In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.
I didn't need that choice in TIE Fighter, I don't need it here.

Actually, I'm quite curious as to how well the Digital Molecular Matter physics and the Euphoria AI will play out in this game. The small demonstration on the LucasArts website looks pretty impressive.
Has there been a physics or AI system that's got a silly name and heaps of hype that ever made a good game bad? I mean, beyond 'things fall off shelves' and 'the levels are designed so the AI looks smart'.
Since it'll probably have the 'get shot by blasters twenty times' hitpoints, it's a bit premature.

I don't know Jim. There doesn't actually appear to be a picture there. Just these little arrows that describe how big the picture would be, if there was one.Praxis wrote:How the heck are you supposed to duel while holding sabers like that?

If they pulled it off well, I'd be willing to buy the game just for that sequence.Ford Prefect wrote:That' sounds ... very yes.DPDarkPrimus wrote:*snip Star Destroyer run*

Don't you know, the Female Jedi were being sexually repressed by the male dominated Jedi Order and incapable of expressing their sexuality, cuz the Force turns women into Nymphos... at least, that's the fanboy theory.Mange wrote:EDIT: I looked at the concept art of Shaak-Ti (I can't say that I approve bringing her back to life again, but hey...) etc. and one thing struck me... The lack of clothes on the female characters.

PS: Where are these strange light-weapons you guys are talking about?
PPS: I agree, Vympel, the light-side is lame...

Remember, you're going to be a powerful Jedi who is involved in huge events... nobody ever heard of. That affect nothing. That maybe sees other meaningful events through windows or in cutscenes. And you can choose the light and guess... hide a whole lot.Vympel wrote:Great, so there's some stupid lamer option to become a light-side Jedi- what kind of pussy would make that decision in between RotS and ANH?

I always found it amusing that they put more effort into lame character design than silly things like plot or whatever.
Maybe they'll do continuity a favour and kill off your character at the end.Remember, you're going to be a powerful Jedi who is involved in huge events... nobody ever heard of. That affect nothing. Frankly, Vympel's 'Jesus just use Vader' suggestion is awesome. You'd have a known character travelling between two known points (Mustafar to Tantive IV), and a pre-existing set of events for him to go through from the EU.
But wait, then the devs wouldn't be able to create a SW game staple: the stupid story with the stupid Dark Side Foozle full of stupid cliches. Why did nobody emulate TIE Fighter's example?
Hell, if they did Vader, they could even do that hilarious comic where he crashes after Yavin and rules the shit out of animals and stuff in the wilderness on his way to an Imperial outpost. Lame, but in a shooter potentially a lot of fun.
