If they wanted tonfa - which I agree they do - they should have just had tonfa with a parallel sabre beam starting at the 'short' end and extending past the 'long' end. Tonfa are very flexible in use - that thing is only really usable by rotating the grips.

But hey, a lightsabre blade on a blunt weapon = stupid character design. I want a lightmace. Or maybe a lightanvil.

Stark, you should well know by now never, ever to suggest such a stupid thing. You may give them ideas. :P

Holy shit tonfa are usable in heaps of ways right so maybe they should have a thumbstick on the grip so you can have blades in both directions, to represent how a tonfa user can quickly change the way he uses his weapon to surprise his opponent! ZAP, parry with the long end! CLICK, turn on the short blade and POW in their face! AWESOME! It's like Mauls sabre but BETTER and you can DUAL WIERD IT.

Yeah... someone asked about the plausibility of Lightchucks on the WotC RPG, the consensus was you'd kill yourself even as a Jedi... a week later... BAM... BF2 Patch with Ventress using light-chucks...

Another interesting aspect of this multimedia project, is that Lucas himself was involved in the production (according to the article) and even helped design some of the characters...

Yeah, I think I now see why the female Jedi seem to "let loose" in these concept pictures. Shaak Ti goes from having modest cloak to a top held together by animal teeth? O__o

Hey, clothes-wise, the movies set a precedence, so I can't really complain. The author of the story has been involved with SW:Republic and the tie-in novel to SW:Galaxies (which I heard was good), so the story might be decent.

...

I'm trying to keep a level of optimism...

Meh is really what this game has gotten out of me.

Let's see, ask Stark put it, you're an important character(Vader's Apprentice) who did things no one's ever heard of, and has no impact whatsoever except to a small possible circle, and after the day's end? No one gives a fuck about whether you lived or died regardless of your high position within the New Order.

Oh and the Star Wars Galaxy book sucked huge donkey cock. Incosistent because it followed the MMO and abilities of such rather then in universe material.

You mean the very quote they attributed to Vader and no one else :P .

Literally you are a nobody that's given a big title. Unless they come out with a kickass story, your character is going to be on the level of Maarek Steele's Wing Buddy #4517.

As I said...the qutoe attributed to Vader.

The variety of others basically enter the same level as the mains...hell they are on the level of the 501st. Extras who helped Vader, but are never noted for doing the job.

This is much easier to say if you were an Inquistor, or a Bounty Hunter, or anything else then Vader's Apprentice.

They gave the main a title that has no meaning except a false sense of importance to the player. His story, unless they actually tie it in effectively is on the level of Steele's Wingmate. Sure, you did cool things, but no one attributes a single thing to you, thus no one ever really heard of it. They hear of Vader's exploits killing Jedi, apparently you're no better then the technician on the ISD Behemoth pressing the kill button.

Well, there must be someone in the Empire that Vader assisted, since it didn't say "Vader went apeshit on the Jedi's asses singlehandedly". :P

Oh well, I guess the quote "pursued by the Empire's sinister agents" in the ANH opening text, basically implies Vader was just one of several such "agents". :)

Is there an alternative that wouldn't muck up continuity? Almost everything has already been established story-wise. I can't see how you could implement a story within that time period that made some real changes to the galaxy without screwing it up.

I dont get it, If the producers want lots of lightsaber duels why not set the game in KOTOR period ? That gives them all the Jedi and Sith for player to kill without messing with original triology storyline.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

The Empire gains more and more control and shows its ugly, totalitarian side. Eventually, rebel groups form the Rebel Alliance. That's basically the big changes the galaxy undergoes. Don't see how this game undermines that. :?

But how do you figure Jedis into it? After all, LucasArts have clearly shown their interest in another lightsaber wankfest. :P

Well, we know the Empire had multiple light-saber wielding psychos, such as the Prophets, Inquisitors, and Hands, many of those were also Dark Jedi, and also trained Dark Jedi of their own to usurp Palpy. Even Vader had Lumiya at one time, I'm not surprised he didn't have others before her.

... which precisely sounds like a plotline which involves a character who did things that were only important to a small circle and hardly impacted the overall story.

Oh, and after seeing/thinking that the names for the post-NGE SWG professions were rather misleading, I can see "Vader's secret apprentice" being that as well. (i.e. in the same way that 'Trader' = crafter, Commando = 'basic' soldier, 'Jedi' seems to be the core class of any Force-sensitive... well, unless they just released another update that changes these. Couldn't make sense of the on-site guides, consistency-wise.)

I would sell my firstbone for a Star Wars game that had nothing to do with the force or Jedi/sith whatever... though it seems impossible after the prequels.

N.B I did play Republic Commando, but i was thinking of something like a game that focus on being a Smuggler or Bounty Hunter or both.

No Jedi in it or you don't play as a Jedi? Oh and I think Deadly Alliance fits that criteria, admittedly, I hated the game and thus didn't even attempt to play it more than 15 minutes.
