I agree to an extent. In this episode she served more as "the Chief's wife". But the "Cally is whiny" crowd has been around since season 2, and partially I think it's how she comes across when she complains.

Personally "one of us should be watching the kid" is the kind of complaint I'd expect a mother to have.

I'm quite frankly shocked we got the "we're short-handed!" line when Galactica now has the entire fucking Pegasus deck-crew to utilize.

The short-handed line makes sense when you consider how many people they lost on New Caprica and during the deal through the plasma field/nebula/whatever it was to get to the Eye of Jupiter.

Remember they had to bring all those civilian ships through the Nebula of Doom a while back. They may have both deck-crews to utilize, but they're probably scattered to hell and gone trying to cope with damage to the civilian ships, and trying to keep Galactica from falling apart at the seams. Remember that Tigh remarked that the ship is in desperate need of yard time. And if Galactica, with the huge degree of redundancy and surplus capacity that seems to be built into Colonial military ships, is in need of yard time, I imagine the civilian ships (presumably built as inexpensively as possible,) would also be getting close to the point where extensive reconditioning would be needed, even if they haven't been shot at like Galactica has. And they still have to maintain all those Vipers and Raptors and other small craft on top of that. As a result, it would've been surprising to me if they weren't short-handed.

Hey, speaking of this, where's Laird? That guy was awesome. We need more Laird.

Possibly, that would explain the derth of people. Many civie ships were basically passenger liners, not designed for long term voyages. Even keeping basic hygenics alone working on those may be a problem. The year sitting on the ground on New Caprica likely didn't help them either (not to mention the Nebula).

And agreed Uranium, I'd like to see Laird again. Along with Hoshi he was one of the few Pegasus crewmembers that didn't seem like he was from a freakin' bizzaro ship.

I dunno. Cally's the only one that really annoys me. The rest of them actually seem to have more than one dimensional personalities.
Am I the only one left who doesn't mind Cally?
She's my favorite among the secondary (or tertiary?) characters.
