Anyone read 'Allegiance' already ?
Timothy Zahn's 'Allegiance' should be on sale already - has anyone read it yet ?

I'll get it from the library one of these days-- what I've heard doesn't exactly leave me salivating.
EDIT: The only thing of continuity-related interest that I've heard it includes is a semi-precise date (although in a POV statement, just in case) for the integration of non-clones into the Stormtrooper Corps.
Oh yeah, and it's finally confirmed that Luke received instruction from Kenobi during the years between Yavin and Hoth.

Just bought it today. Will need more time to look through it all.
EDIT: Got so engrossed in the book that I ate it all in one setting. Gratned the following is my opinion, but here goes a spoiler free review, unless this thread becomes designated for spoilers I'll try not to reveal anything.
Zahn delivers a very good book. He writes for the main characters and Mara Jade well, and the rogue Stormtroopers involved are my favorite portion of the story. Zahn also does a good job of subtly referencing the Clone Wars, not the same way current authors have where the Prequel movies are cut and pasted in a vain attempt to be clever, but in a nice way that makes sense while being far in between.

It's very interesting to finally see a bit of what happened between ANH and ESB that wasn't in video game form.

Finished it. A decent read, maybe not my fave Zahn...but heads and shoulders above any EU, and a solid Star Wars book.
He handles the mains decently as he's done in the past, and Mara was pretty good. Also it dealt with the span between ANH and ESB that is actually new, and not feeling dated, ie the Marvel comics.

It was nice to see the Empire at its peak again - and having Vader keeping Ozzel under observation was a nice touch.
The stormtrooper deserters were a good storyline, the coverup attempt of their superiors in my opinion nicely done and a plot twist at the end.
Disra is the same as in SotP/VotF, correct ?
And he managed to keep Thrawn out of this book I'm still waiting for a book by Zahn about Thrawn in the Unknown Region.
Edit: And I like it more than Outbound Flight and Survivor's Quest

Spoilers, duh:
Part of the plot for Allegiance involves a band of Rogue stormtroopers who kill an ISB officer (who deserved it, he threatened a trooper and was killed in self defense) and then escape from the Star Destroyer with an ISB covert operation ship full of money and weapons. A higher ranking officer and Ozzell attempt to cover this up. Mara Jade later comes upon the ISD needing information for an investigation unrelated to the rogue troopers, but Ozzel and the ISB officer attempt to kill her off because they think she is trying to expose their cover up.
