Hm...for some reason, some continent keeps closing their borders before I can spread there, even when I keep the fatality level to a minimum.

it takes trial and error. you have to get lucky and infect central Europe and Africa to infect Western Europe. Its silly but Western Europe doesn't have an airport

First game:
Start with the go button. You earn the first point at 100 kills.

A few tips:
You can remove traits as well as add them. Reducing visibility increases the period in which public transit is active and borders not shut-down.
You really, really want that airborne transmission vector.

Second game:
Invest then go to Monte Carlo on the spreading buttons.

Hah! Finally beat it! You do indeed have to spend points near the beginning to decrease your fatality rate - then just up the infectiousness as much as possible while getting the deaths close to 0, wait 'til every continent is infected, and then hit 'em with the symptoms!

Finally got it! Just take lethality down, infectivity up, wait for all countries to be infected, then let 'em have it.

That's the first rule of being a good pathogen. Never kill off your host in the quickest, most gruesome way unless you enjoy extinction yourself.

You only want to keep sweating and sneezing of the original setup you get.

You can spend points to remove aspects just as you can spend points to add them... so the first things you might do are to make yourself less lethal, then jack up infectiousness, then go for the kill.

The first one is easy once you gifure out that you can remove abilities.
I made the virus have no lethality and no visibility, but extremely infectious (all the abilities on the left side off, all on the right side on).
Once the World was infected, I used all the points I had saved to make get all of the lethality stuff in one go. The death toll rose VERY quickly

The second one is almost pure luck: You just raise drug resistance and infectiousness to 3, and then start spamming spreading and infecting the airports. Then you just have to hope that you get to every region before anyone you can't reach yet finishes the cure.

The first one just says "Click here to play Pandemic" but when I click nothing happens.

I wiped out humanity in the second one, though. Wiping out humanity's always cool.

Kickass games. Managed to get a 100% death rate on the first after a few tries, and an 80% on the second on my fourth attempt. It would have been 100%, but Africa immunized ridiculously fast, and I forgot about Greenland until it was too late to infect it.

I wiped everyone out! I discovered once you get it so there's no uninfected people in a country, they can't cure each-other.
